Established in 1974, the East Coast Migrant Head Start Project is a private, nonprofit organization that provides a range of educational programs and related services for children of migrant and seasonal farm workers throughout the United States. It serves more than 8,500 migrant infants, toddlers and preschoolers throughout the East Coast. The organization operates over 90 centers in nearly 10 U.S. states, including Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Delaware, New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Virginia. It offers head start programs for children up to the age of five years. The organization provides child development services that includes fiscal monitoring and training. It additionally offers information technology-related solutions, including technical support, data upgrade, e-mail, account networking and equipment replacement. The organization operates approximately 15 delegate agencies, including Telamon Corporation and Rural Opportunities. The East Coast Migrant Head Start Project is funded by the Migrant Programs Branch of the Head Start Bureau, Department of Health and Human Services, and Administration for Children, Youth and Families.
