It's Not Perfect...BUT, an elderly relative of mine spent several weeks there and received comprehensive care. As a family member, make yourself known to the staff, ask questions, advocate for your family member. The staff responded to our requests promptly. I always had calls or emails returned. It is difficult to be a patient and have an extended stay of rehabilitation anywhere. I always found it clean, the staff polite and helpful. Free parking and close to Major highways. I was happy my relative was in an acute rehabilitation facility vs a skilled nursing facility. The frequency of therapy and MD's available was a plus.

I have to say that Kindred Hospital Park View has a wonderful pre-admitting process. For several days prior to my husbands admit to Parkview, the Director of Case Management, Leslie and Carleen the nurse who helped us arrange for the transfer from Baystate were wonderful. They were in contact with me every day giving me updates on the plans for my husband to be transferred. They both set up a team meeting for me to meet with the entire team prior to my husband being transferred to them. They asked me to tell them about my husband and what we feel is important to us for his care. It only took about 45 minutes and I was able to answer their questions and they all had a good idea of who my husband was before he was admitted. This is so important because in the past 2 months my husband has been to 2 acute rehab facilities where this process did not happen and I had to spend time making calls and trying to track the team members down during my visits to different team members to talk to them about my husband. At Kindred Parkview, because of the great pre-admit process, I was able to visit and spend the entire time with my husband, no chasing staff, making calls, etc. Thank you also to Jake for greeting me that evening to welcome us to Parkview. For those of you who have ever had a loved one spend time in any facility, you will know exactly what I am saying and appreciate this wonderful team and the process they have for their admissions. Thank you!

my friend has been there a cou...

my friend has been there a couple of weeks. although it is a blessing she is alive, after being in critical condition and having 30+ surgeries, she is in a lot of pain and needs her pain meds on schedule. ever since she got there she is in tears whenever I call her. she is not happy with the way she is treated and constantly in pain. on one occasion she waited 2 hours for her pain meds. she rang the call bell and could hear them in the hallway chit chatting while laying there in pain not being able to do anything. when I went to visit her, I can say that most of the staff was really good, but when she needed pain meds, it took that nurse 45 minutes to respond. I went to check to see what was going on. It wasn't due to being very busy or under staffed. the nurse was sitting at the nurses station chit chatting with a co-worker. while we were there we also had to ask them to change the cup-o-bile (not sure the technical term) before it overflowed. they also ordered the wrong supplies she needs for her wound so she is leaking all the time. I would not recomend this place.

Stay Away at all cost

Patients are taken care of by PA's and there's one particular African American PA that shouldn't be taking care of patients and his supervising MD is just as incompetent. If there's a medical emergency they deal with it incompetently in house instead of sending patints to a qualified facility. In other words - this is where you go to die and they're great at that.
