THE BEST!

I've been taking my Subaru to Hopkins for years! Always helpful in explaining what is needed to someone who is not mechanically inclined at all and will always prioritize repairs as needed and can wait. I appreciate all of the team at Hopkins and wouldn't take my car anywhere else!

My experience at Hopkins Auto was fantastic. I went in to have a brakelight changed and to get my dim headlights looked at and they diagnosed the problem with my headlights and fixed them for free. They were professional, kind, and helpful. I will definitely be returning!

Almost got gypped

Went to Hopkins in summer 2010 for AC leak and to replace valve cover gasket. Was told a dye test was done on AC and that the AC compressor needed to be replaced at cost near $1,000. I decided to wait. I had them replace valve cover gaskets. I inspected the gaskets later and all but a few bolts were very loose to not even threaded. I fixed myself. I contacted Hopkins and they said sorry and offered me a free oil change. I took my car to another shop to verify the AC compressor needed to be replaced. The new shop said the compressor was fine, and could not find any evidence that a dye test was done on my AC system by Hopkins. The new shop said that a large, easily detectable leak was in a hose and they replaced it at a cost near $200. I feel that Hopkins, or a dishonest repair tech, was trying to get me to spend money extra money on a repair they knew I didn't need. I will never go back, nor speak of Hopkins in a positive manner. I'm lucky I didn't spend the money! Buyer beware!

Took my Outback to Hopkins in ...

Took my Outback to Hopkins in summer of 2010 for AC leak and to replace valve cover gasket. Was told a dye test would be done on AC system. Was told later that day that the AC compressor had a leak and would need to be replaced at cost near $1,000. I decided to wait. Valve cover gaskets replaced at a reasonable cost. When i inspected the work on the gaskets later, i noticed that all but a couple bolts securing the cover were very loose to not even threaded on the left side cover. The bolts on the bottom were tight, but none on the top. I tightened myself. I contacted Hopkins and they casually said sorry and offered me a free oil change. I later took my car to another shop to verify that the AC compressor was indeed needing to be replaced. The new shop not only said the compressor was fine, but they could not find any evidence that a dye/leak test was performed on my AC system that would be needed to show the compressor was bad. The new shop indicated that a large and easily detectable leak was in a hose and they replaced it at a cost near $200. It was conveyed that if a dye/leak test was actually performed on my system, the leak would have been easily observed. I feel that Hopkins as a company, or a dishonest repair tech, was trying to get me to spend money extra money on a repair they knew I didn't need. I will never go back, nor speak of Hopkins in a positive manner. I did not confront them on the AC issue since i didn't actually spend the money on the repair. Before you spend a large fortune on a repair from these guys, make sure you get a second opinion to make sure it actually needs fixing!!

I was busy and had my wife go into Hopkins to see about head gasket for our 98" Subaru Outback an was told $1500. When I went in it was into $2200. It only takes once for you to do your homework the right way next time. Shame on them, but on the other hand it was good work.
