Another shop said my 18-year old BMW had likely blown the engine, it was not worth repairing, and offered me $200 for it. I paid to tow it from Ann Arbor to Southfield-the wisest investment I have ever made. Southfield Import Auto found the problem (fan clutch), fixed it in a few hours, and instead of suggesting an engine replacement for 3K, or junking it, they charged me $275 and the car is running great.
