El Pulgarcito is not too shabby

Salvadorean Restaurant "El Pulgarcito" #1 is overall a pleasant dining experience. Once you enter the broken plate glass front door you're greated by the aroma of authentic spanish cooking. The restaurant has ample seating with 8-10 booths that will seat 4. There is also an option of diner style bar stools upon a platform with tattered carpet. The wait staff was pleasant and did speak english well. I had the steak burrito which had an abundance of steak, beans and rice. This was topped with a cheddar cheese (from a can) sauce. The burrito was garnished with a cucumber salsa style relish on top of a bed of crisp lettuce and 2 slices of avocado. There was a small orange slice included for a sweet treat for those who finish their plate like a good boy. Fountain drink choices were limited to coke, sprite, and rootbeer (despite the menu stating that there is mr. pibb). There were also options for Horchata, pineapple beverage, and tamarind beverage. Cleanliness I would rate a 2/5 there are cracks in the ceiling, missing trim pieces, broken entrance door, and the usual greasy dirty kitchen ventilation. Ambience however I would give a 4/5 as Telemundo was playing at a volume level easily heard in the booth on the opposite side of the room, and the room was adorned with colorful posters in spanish. Overall I give El Pulgarcito 3.5 tortillas out of 5 because of the lack of chips and salsa. On your way out the door be sure to grab a business card so that you'll have the future location of their website which they have printed on the business cards www.elpulgarcitorestaurant.com "coming soon to the internet near you...

Tequila Bodyshots

Setting out like Louis and Clark expedition , my finely chiseled cousin and I continued our journey down Merriam Drive in hopes of finding the perfect lunch destination. Upon arriving at Salvadorean Restaurant, we were greeted and seated immediately. The waitress was friendly and easy to understand. To my surprise they didn't serve chips and salsa. You couldn't even order chips, as these were considered 'forbidden fruit' by the locals. The burrito I had was tasty and filling, as were the garnishments. The prices were average and the interior of the establishment was fine as long as you carry a bottle of germ-x hand sanitizer <squirt~~squirt~~>.

I would give this place 3 1/2 twisted ankles out of 5.

(watch your step on the cracked sidewalk)
