I've used this company for 3 years now for chimney cleaning and am satisfied with their service. The first year it was on a coupon for a free cleaning (I paid the sales tax). Their objective was to sell a fireplace replacement system that is beautiful, but not for me in my situation. I have a fireplace insert that is just right for the fireplace. In addition to doing the flue cleaning, they also serviced the natural gas furnace. The following year, they sold me a chimney lining on an unlined flue - it cost about $2000. (I didn't do any comparison shopping.) In addition to this, they discovered that the gas water heater next to the furnace was leaking - it was bad and ready to burst. They rearranged their schedule, went to a home store and bought me a new h/w heater and installed it, also hauling away the old one that was full of rust and very heavy. I was so grateful!! This year's cleaning was routine and inexpensive.

I did not hire this company. My landlord did. My fireplace has vents on the side (not sure why they are there) and smoke was leaking from the vents as well as from the front of the fireplace. This company came in and convinced my landlord to spend $5,000.00 on a whole new metal system to be placed inside the chimney. They installed their system, and the fireplace is still doing the same thing it was BEFORE they came. I called them to tell them about it, and after days of waiting for a call back, I could hear one of the guys talking in the background to the woman on the phone who called me back. He was saying, "We did a smoke test and it was fine." Well, it's not fine. I'm not sure what kind of test they did, but there were no ashes in the fireplace, so it is unlikely they actually lit a fire. When you actually light a fire, the smoke is so bad it sets off the smoke alarms, and after $5,000.00 spent, it is worthless work done. I made an appointment for them to come over and look at it yesterday. I left work early and they never showed. I called the receptionist at their company. She said she would get in contact with them and call me back. She never called me back. Is this company aware that every review they have online is negative? Get away as fast as you can from this nightmare of a company. DO NOT USE THEM! I would never have used them, but my landlord hired them, and he doesn't use computers, so he was unaware of their bad rep. I would give them minus 5 stars!

We got a free coupon in the mail and when they came to do their "free" service it ending up costing over $500. Yes, we approved it but after being told it "had to be done" and then finding out the cost from other reputable chimney companies would have been a fraction of the cost we tired to get a partial refund only to find that the owner of this "family owned business" doesn't talk to customers! Stay clear. Emerald City Chimney or Chimney Specialist are better by far!
