Tierra Del Lagarto is a treasure trove of unique home furnishings from around the world. What started in 1991 as a Southwestern furniture outpost in Scottsdale evolved into an exotic destination for imported home decor. When founding couple, Jerry and Linda Van Lith first started TDL, they quickly realized there were amazing finds to be sourced internationally. Mother and daughter team Linda and Meg Van Lith went on the first buying trip in 1995 to Bali and Thailand and have been traveling the world ever since, hand selecting each and every item that makes its way to our 12,000 square foot showroom. We now go to India, Indonesia, Morocco, Mexico, and Turkey each year to select goods by the container load. We specialize in the pieces that "make the room" - the interesting finds that start conversations, and put a smile on your face each time you come back home. Old wood, rich texture, a complex history, and the touch of an artisan's hand - these are the things we look for. We have a special obsession with handwoven textiles, intricately painted ceramics, glittering lanterns, and carved old teak. We consider ourselves purveyors of the tales these pieces have to tell - a reminder of a handmade world that still exists outside our everyday lives. The connections we have made with artisans around the world, and the community we have become so close with in Arizona are what makes us delighted to come to work each day - be it in our showroom in Scottsdale, climbing into the attic workshop of our lantern dealer in Marrakech, wandering the labyrinth lanes of Rajasthani antiques warehouses, or visiting our basket weaversâ?? village in Bali.
