The guys at S&S are awesome. I used to got to Sarasota Auto Werks but after Rex tried to rob me of $4000+ dollars on a repair that consisted of replacing my exhaust manifolds, turbo and cat converter.... I took it to S&S for a second opinion and it ended up being a $115 boost pressure hose. Have been going there ever since. Great service, on point diagnostics every time, clean shop and cheaper than anyone else in town.

Personal service with out the up sell that the dealership pushes on you.

I would leave minus-1 star for S&S Mercedes Repair if I could.



I took my Benz wagon to them for an alignment, and the S&S mechanic pointed out ripped rubber front axle cover boots that allowed dirt to get into the gears and caused a mild tapping. I paid for a new pair of rubber covers ($200) and 5 hrs of labor for the axles to come out and be cleaned, but the problem was far worse upon completion to the point that the car was undriveable. The mechanic then ordered rebuilt Benz axles (free labor; I paid for the parts) to rectify the problem. As my research showed that rebuilt axles come equipped with the rubber axle covers, I'd essentially paid for two pairs of the rubber covers.



When the car was done the second time, I asked for either the initial pair returned or a $200 credit, though the mechanic claimed that the first pair had to be sent back with my old axles for core credit. I don't know cars, but this sounded fishy...



Through a consumer advocacy organization, I was able to get a written statement from S&S Mercedes naming the company they purchased the rebuilt axles from that had (allegedly) required the rubber axle covers to be returned with the axle cores for credit. I shared the information via mail with the named company in Colorado, and the owner replied with an apology; he assured me that they have no such requirement, that the rubber covers were not in fact returned anyhow, and that his company had no part in this "scam" that my mechanic had pulled on me.



Nice & honest guys, huh? Learn from my sad experience and go elsewhere.

S&S charged me for rubber axle covers ($200) during a failed axle repair attempt that made the car far worse than when I drove it in to them. S&S then charged me for remanufactured axles that came with new rubber axle covers, but would not refund/return my 1st pair of $200 covers because they said they had to be returned with axle cores for credit. Through a consumer advocacy group, I got S&S to name the axle rebuilder who supposedly required the rubber boot covers I'd been charged $200 for in order to receive their core credit. When I shared the S&S statement with the named rebuilder, the company owner confirmed that they do NOT require rubber covers: S&S scammed me out of $200. Now I have the S&S confession in writing as well as the supplier's letter disproving the S&S claim (and apologizing to me for the poor experience). Nice & honest guys, huh? Learn from my sad experience and go elsewhere.

Their prices have gotten too high. May as well just go to the dealer.

Is unfortunate there are few of us that appreciate everything in life.S&S Mercedes had maintained my car for years my car has five hundred thousand miles on it and I still can do hundred miles an hour on the highway with it. what this fellow anonymous is telling everyone about his experience he doesn't mention is been a customer over there probably for few years so it wasn't his first time there I'm sure.S&S best Mercedes shop in town with best prices and knowledge!!

These guys ultimately proved to be the typical belly-crawling unethical mechanics. Took my Mercedes in for a simple alignment after having put on a new set of Michelins, and they found many other things that needed attention. I know nothing about cars, and when they offered me two options for my front axles that had ripped boot covers, I chose to go with their plan of reconditioning mine as a temporary fix (mine made a minor intermittent tapping noise) rather than replace. Their attempt made the car essentially undriveable. They then charged me AGAIN to put in remanufactured axles (why wasn't this option offered the 1st time?) and refused to give me back the boots I paid $200 for in the first failed attempt. They then had the nerve to fabricate their own reality and to accuse me of having twisted their arm into a recondition attempt that they warned me would not work. Terrible experience; not trustworthy or honest. Go to the dealer before taking your Benz to S&S Mercedes in Sarasota.
