DDM Power Tools was established in October, 1995. The first products manufactured were repair kits for pneumatic chipping hammers. These kits were designed to efficiently change critical parts of the handle and barrel without damaging related parts. The kits are still available but not yet on the website. The following year the company designed a lead abatement attachment for several brands of in-line needle scalers (IR, Pneumatic Tool, CP, Patco, Cleco, Texas Pneumatic), already on the market. This attachment allows connection to H.E.P.A. vacuum systems and the safe removal of lead based paint from steel and concrete. The attachment evolved into a lead paint site clean-up kit. This assortment of vacuum accessories and attachment was designed to meet requirements outlined in OSHA 29 CFR and SOEH for vacuum pick-up tools. The attachment and the vacuum kit have been very successful in keeping airborne particulates below the action level for monitoring. Since 1995 several DDM tools and accessories have been manufactured for concrete scarifying as well as coating removal from steel decks. These Deck Crawlers, or Scarifies, are equipped with vacuum pick-up as standard equipment and have a 3-1/2 wide cutter bundle that is easily rebuilt in the field. New DDM 4-bolt demolition hammers with long-reach capabilities are also now available.
