Founded in 1969, the Whittier Area Parents Association for the Developmentally Handicapped is an organization that supports individuals with lifelong disabilities. Based in Santa Fe Springs, Calif., the agency caters to individuals with disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, autism, down s syndrome and related medical and/or behavioral disorders. It renders speech/language assessment, speech/language therapy, communication coaching, housing services and augmentative communication support. The Whittier Area Parents Association for the Developmentally Handicapped serves the southeast Los Angeles, San Gabriel Valley and North Orange County areas.
