Shady . . .

Suburban Auto puts on a good face up front, but they are every bit as shady and unethical as any other car dealer out there . . . . maybe worse. After signing a contract at a certain interest rate, they expect me to come back in two days later and resign at a higher rate? First off, this sounds like a financing scam. When I refused to sign the new contract at the new rate, I suggested that instead we should do what is included IN THE CONTRACT which states: "If a third party offers to finance the vehicle on terms or conditions which are different from the terms and conditions stated in this contract, you may rescind the transaction and shall not be required to sign a new contract unless you elect to proceed with the sale." I asked to do exactly this and return the vehicle rather than agree to the new terms, in all honesty I wasn't completely happy with the purchase anyhow. In response, I was told that "they [the sales department] will be ruthless. They will search until they find a bank willing to cash out the contact at the original terms and they will come after you for the difference in payoff value. That's just the way the car industry works." (The estimated payoff on our trade-in's loan was a little off as welI.) So, if they can find a financial institution willing to work with the terms in the original contract, they shouldn't be asking me to sign a new contract at a higher rate in the first place, and they definitely shouldn't be issuing threats about it in an effort to get me to re-sign. Though, now that I've gone through this I really do wish there were a clear way to get out of the sale entirely so I won't have to deal with such a poor business.I absolutely realize that this is how the car industry works, but for a dealer to so brazenly admit their poor and unfriendly practices was a bit shocking to me. I asked to speak to the owner and was told that she [Erin Sowle] would be just as ruthless and that if she had a signed contract she would find a way to cash in on it and would absolutely refuse to unwind the deal. I insisted on going back tomorrow to meet her in person and discuss the situation, but based on this comment from her employee, I have little hope of any kind of positive outcome.
