This business should be called turo.CON - because it is a business that caters to con artists.
Take Al in Knoxville, Tenn., for example. If you should rent a Honda Civic or any other car from him through turo.CON, be sure you photograph every square inch of the exterior and the interior, including the gas gauge and mileage counter. Why, you ask?
This man has dozens of scratches on his back fender. But after you've left the car with him, within less than an hour, he'll have added two or three scratches and blamed them on YOU. That will cost you an extra $600 or so.
He'll run errands with his car to drive up the mileage beyond the 600 that were included for free, and then he'll charge you for extra miles and for gas, though it was returned at the same gas level at which it was taken.
So contact the company and express your concerns. Ask them to look at this person's rental history and how many other times fender scratches have resulted in hundreds of dollars in extra charges. Oh no, they say, he's entitled to his "privacy." They can't review his rental history.
Trust me, you might spend a tad more on an actual car rental company that has been in business for decades. But those companies want to protect their reputation. They will not cheat you shamelessly. Be careful out there, fellow travelers.
