I'm definitely no ramen connoisseur but once you have been to Japan, I'm sure most people will agree that it's hard to find good ramen in the states. Not only are most ramen places considered quick + cheap eats in jp, even the not so famous ones are better than some of the very popular ones here in the states. However, Mensho comes close! They're not cheap and the lines here can be insane no matter when you come but is it worth the hype?!? I must agree with other Yelpers that it is!! They are the real deal and serves up some pretty authentic Japanese ramen. The trick is to either come solo and sit at the counter/community table or get here at least 30-45mins before they open. Sounds a bit ridiculous?!? Not if you want a piping hot bowl of ramen filled with lots of umami. Needless to say, they are known for their tori paitan but don't overlook some of their other offerings. Even their vegetarian ramen is mighty tasty and bursting with mushroom flavors.

Provided by YPmobileAfter going there for some 8-9 years, it's still one of my favorite restaurants in SF.
