I see many students, artists, successful professionals, and couples struggling with depression and anxiety, trauma, problems in relationships, or simply put, that feeling that something just isn't right. My approach is to help you gain awareness of and explore those difficult thoughts, feelings, and past experiences which prevent you from being comfortable with who you would like to be, what you want, and the kinds of relationships that you want to have with others.
I specialize in psychodynamic psychotherapy and believe that by reclaiming lost or unknown pieces of ourselves, we can grow towards greater wholeness and satisfaction within our lives. Our suffering and uncertainties can actually be in service of realizing our goals.
Therapy can be goal oriented and together, we will identify potential areas of growth for you as well as ways to measure your progress. My style is both compassionate and kind, direct and engaging. - I am a licensed clinical psychologist and have been working with individuals and couples for almost ten years. I also supervise graduate students who are in the process of becoming licensed psychotherapists. After graduating from Vassar College, I spent several years in New York City studying somatic therapies and treating individuals. After receiving my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, I opened my private practice in the Noe Valley neighborhood of San Francisco. Throughout my career I have trained at community mental health agencies, local clinics, wellness centers, and psychoanalytic and Jungian institutes. My past clinical research has focused on cultural trauma and the intergenerational transmission of trauma among ethnic minorities. My professional affiliations include:American Psychological Association (APA) California Psychological Association (CPA) and San Francisco Psychological Association (SFPA).
