I'm very upset about a recent visit to store #4357 in San Diego, CA. I'm a busy mom of four. I've ALWAYS chosen the UPS store because of the wonderful quality of customer service. I showed up at around 10am with a box (that I had purchased from the store the day before), and armful of gifts to ship to my family, and a wild preschooler. I was met by Mary who is the store manager...and was told that I could use their tape to put my box together. I thought that this was odd because usually this is done for me if I requested it…most of the time I don’t even need to ask. SO, I taped my box up and set it on the counter. Mary then said in a rude way…”what can I HELP you with?” I told her that I wanted to ship my package to my family….and that my box was a bit big and would probably need some peanuts. She then told me that they had none available and that I could purchase some for $5.99. I had never heard of this, and at this point I was becoming flustered because my son was misbehaving. I took my box and left. I travelled 10 minutes away to the next closes UPS store and was met with a smile and had my box packed and shipped….no problems. Mary is a store manager, what kind of an example is she setting for her employees? I have to also add, that other than a gentleman using one of the computers, the store was empty. The store offers cookies and coffee for their customers, but totally lacks in good customer service.

This location is not recommended. I was quoted a price for packaging and received a higher price a few days later. The owner eventually honored the original quote, but then packed the item in an overly sized box which tremendously raised the shipping rate. One of the packers damaged the item, and the owner still had the gall to try and upsell insurance; this after already trying to overcharging me and damaging my product.



My customer was upset and canceled his order because of these idiots, I figure the UPS store cost me about $100 in damages and $800 lost profits. Not to mention wasting about 3 hours of my valuable time. If in this area go to Aero Mail on 8690 Aero Drive (Next to La Pampa Restaurant) they are family owned, cheaper, and do a much better job.
