Dr. Melanie Denton isn’t originally from Salisbury, but she got here as fast as she could. She’s a University of Michigan alum (Go Blue!) and graduated from the Michigan College of Optometry in 2009, after which she completed a one year Ocular Disease residency at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. She lived and practiced in Salisbury in 2010-2011 before moving to the Asheville area, where she gained private practice experience and earned an MBA at Western Carolina University. When it was time to start a practice, she couldn’t think of anywhere she’d rather call home and moved her 4 dogs, 6 chickens, and 1 fiance back to Salisbury. Dr. Denton is passionate about patient care, optometry education, and giving back to the community. In her spare time, she lectures nationally and has been published in various Optometric publications. Her clinical interests are Pediatric care, Ocular Disease, and Contact Lenses. She is a member of the North Carolina State Society of Optometry and the American Optometric Association. She is the Vice President of Women of Vision and a member and fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
