Established in 1872, the Salisbury Fire Department works to provide fire suppression and prevention and emergency medical services. It operates a citizen s emergency response team that conducts training classes in home fire safety and prevention, planning and practicing home exit drills, and the safe and proper use of portable fire extinguishers. The department conducts apparatus and equipment checks and marine vessel and power saw inspections. The Salisbury Fire Department is also responsible for incident management, apparatus staging, operational safety, emergency operations and rescue responses. It operates a communication center that has multichannel, programmable radios that assist in coordinating responses to various emergency and nonemergency calls for service. The department operates various fire stations and is located in Salisbury, Md.
