I have a very specific love of cake donuts and in St. Louis, these are the best around. The buttermilk cake doughnut here are the best and the same cake recipe they derive everything else is brilliant. Visiting the shop is like taking a trip back in time with the beehive attendant at the counter ready to take your order. Definitely a foodie landmark and a fun stop for your friends when they visit St. Louis. Living here in St. Louis, you don't realize the tradition and high quality of local Doughnuts shops we have in town. This is a must stop and a STL tradition. My favorites are the buttermilk cake, the crunch-top cakes, blueberry, and traditional custard filled donuts. My wife loves the fruit pies and claims these are quite good too. Get there early on the weekend because they sell out. Wait for the next batch in the afternoon.

They have a good selection of very reasonably priced doughnuts. It is a mom-and-pop run shop that is know throughout the U.S.
