Scam artist owner. (Darlene)

So I called Darlene near the end of October she said she had a unit to move into. Great, she gives me the code to get in, and a locker number. The day we move in we can't get out of the facility. After leaving voicemails at different numbers my brother in law let us out. He had to come save us twice because without a code box on the inside and no information to get out we had no choice. Darlene called the next day to inform me that you just need to pull all the way up to the gate to set off the sensor. This is important info to give your new clients. Before I hung up I asked if she would be mailing the contract so I could sign it and make the appropriate payments. A week passed without a contract so I called. Left a voicemail and never heard back. Another week, another voicemail and still no response. I left a total of four voicemails without any response from this business owner Darlene. Finally on the fifth call and over a month worth of trying she actually answered the phone. She said she would be sending out the contract soon. Another week, another voicemail and no response. I continued this process throughout November and early December. She NEVER returned a call. Finally just before Christmas I received an invoice for two months plus a prorated week and a deposit all due immediately. $170. This business owner Darlene hand wrote a threatening note that if not paid by new years we would be put on the auction block. Explain to me how I am supposed to pay you if you never sent me a contract or at least info to where to send the payment. She surprisingly answered the phone and said that she had been sending contacts and bills all along and never received anything from us. Ok if you don't hear from us by mail. Call me. I left my number over half a dozen times. She tells me it's not her fault but the post offices fault. She informs me I'm locked out of my unit and I have to pay the full $170 to get her to unlock my unit. We make payments and catch up. Still no contract has been sent or obviously signed. My wife left a note in the final payment for Darlene to call when we could get back into the unit. she called in the morning and that afternoon I went out there and was still locked out. Called her and she said well maybe today or tomorrow it will be open. Come back the next afternoon and can finally get in. Over the next several days we clean out our locker. We call and inform her we are done. We do not hear back from her so I call again to confirm that this scamming headache nightmare is over. She says all is fine.I ask for my deposit back and she said no, because you didn't give me ten days notice. What? Oh it says that in the contract that I never even saw. She claims the only way I will get my fifty dollar deposit back is if I pay another months rent (for an empty locker) and give a proper ten day notice. At this point I'm so frustrated with the scam artist owner that I tell her to go ahead and steal my money. I'm sure I'll never see it again. Consumers: please be aware. She will get you in there play b.s. games with you. Lock you out and become threatening. Then she will steal your money. One word for you Darlene; KARMA
