Poor Nursing Care

TMC likes to brag about their great medical cate It's a LIE. I had eye surgery on 11/29. The RN NEVER ONCE washed her hands, even before she started my IV or gave me 4 eye drops twice. She gave the eye drops incorrectly, NEVER pausing between drops, even when I told her they should be given 3-5 MINUTES apart. My father had surgery there 5 years ago, and got a large bedsore on his heel from not being turned. He had surgery again on 1/28/08 and was never ONCE turned on the day shift, both the day of surgery and the next day after surgery, unless I did it (he weights over 200 lbs,) and also the 2nd day was given FOUR TIMES the correct IV pain dosage, because she "didn't see the new order" decreasing the dose to ONE FOURTH the amount she gave. The nurses only come in the room at the beginning of the shift and to change the IV (ONLY after I call them to say that the IV is out, when it's been beeping for 5-10 minutes. They either ignore or can't hear the soft alarm). I have never seen one RN listen to his abdomen (he had abdominal surgery) and I've only seen one nurse listen to his lungs.I had to ask for boots to prevent bed sores on his heels. He gets the best care from the nurse's aides. Both of the days I'm referring to concerning my father, the RN only had THREE OTHER PATIENTS! My Dad was a NEW POST-OP and was hardly seen by the RN's, unless I asked for something. THIS IS SHODDY NURSING CARE, PEOPLE!!! The Absolute Minimum nursing care is given, EVEN WHEN the family asks for care. I personally will NEVER have surgery there again, and if any of my family need surgery again, we will ALL ASK FOR GENESIS, NOT Trinity. Oh, they redecorate and make things LOOK good, but the underlying care, especially from the nurses on the surgical floor, displays either lack of knowledge, or lack of caring, OR basic laziness. They do not seem like they even know the basics of nursing care. Go there at YOUR OWN PERIL. Trinity has absolutely NO RIGHT TO TOUT (ALL over the place) what a GREAT hospital they are, and what EXCELLENT CARE they give. IT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE. It's a facade in fancy packaging. I have been a BSN RN for more than 30 years. I KNOW what I'm talking about. I could understand a little more if they were BUSY, but THEY WEREN'T!!! 2 thumbs DOWN!! BASIC nursing knowledge is to turn a patient every TWO hours, NOT once a shift or less. BASIC nursing teaches to check med dosages before giving. BASIC nursing says WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE AND AFTER PROCEDURES, ESPECIALLY before starting IV's or giving eye drops. BASIC nursing says LISTEN TO BOWEL SOUNDS on a NEW POST-OP at LEAST ONCE A SHIFT, NOT once in a while.BASIC nursing says CHANGE the IV bag when it it's already INFUSED, and the PUMP IS BEEPING.I am completely dissatisfied and disgusted with the SHODDY nursing care given by this "excellent" hospital. It's all smoke and mirrors.
