Been a Year

Over the past year I have made several trips to Skeins on the Main. Each time I was met with smiles and staff eager to attend to my knitting needs. Lori the owner has truly transformed this shop into a wonderful experience for all levels of knitters. She has encouraged me to expand my knitting abilities and gave me a badge of courage, shucks I feel like the cowardly lion in Wiz of Oz, "I have been given the courage of knitting badge". If you have not visited this little piece of heaven in Rochester Hills, please do so. Lori has employed a staff of dedicated people to serve your knitting needs they give as much care and attention to the shop as Lori does. Lori has given her shop down home country comfort so come on in and met your neighbors. Thursday evening is open knitting just bring what you are working on and see for yourself what a great shop this is. Several classes are available to meet all your knitting needs. From beginner to advance all are welcome. Well I could go on and on and on about this wonderplace place, come see for yourself, I promise you will not be disappointed! Suzanne Whelan

Different POV

I am a new knitter and had heard about this shop. Finally I had a chance to go. The store wasn't crowded and it still took over 15 minutes just to be greeted. When someone did ask if I needed help, I told them I was a new knitter and liked small projects. I was told they have a lot of stuff there and to look around. Well, I had already done that and was looking for a project. I felt like I didn't belong there and was not wanted there. So, I left. It is a cute store. It is well stocked. If you are in the "in group" by all means go. If you want to be welcomed whatever your level, you need another store.

I was in awhile back and wrote about my not so positive experience. Lori had looked me up on face book and asked me to come back in. Since then I have been back a few different times and have always received friendly service. The stock is varied and you can find what you nee

Not to be missed.

Lovely yarn shop in downtown Rochester. Full of treasures and the friendliest staff, it is a joy to shop there. The shelves are stocked with many new and fun yarns. The staff is very knowledgeable and eager to assist in putting together your next project. When I first starting shopping Skeins about 5 years ago, I found the yarn a little pricey. The new owner, Lori, has done a great job of lowering the price point while mainting a high quality. I particularly like the many organic yarns they carry. One of the best features is that all of the yarn is organized by weight that correlates to the coding in knitting magazines (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.) so you can immediately zero in on the size you need to make your project and pick from a large selection of yarns that will work.

Great Resource!

I've been to most of the knit shops in Michigan over the past 30 years, and this is one of the best! The have a great selection of unique yarns, including bulky wool, down to baby alpaca sock yarn. You can count on high quality yarn, and very helpful service. They are even open on Sundays, and this helps when you need those turbo needles to finish a weekend project. Even with the price of gas these days, I will drive 40 minutes to shop here.
