Feel it was more about the the bill total

I walked in there with a 12 yr old dog who was breathing very rapidly and had been for a day or so - very unusual for him and I was worried about him. When the doctor saw him, she said she didn't see any distress in him. We talked for a bit, he ended up having chest xrays. I declined the $95 fee to have a radiologist read the xrays. Yes, I agreed to the xrays and my bill was $230 - just wish the dr. had helped me by suggesting I wait a bit on the xrays since he really wasn't in distress and clearly I was!! Several months ago, same dog had a neurological episode and was at the end of it when I took him elsewhere, they ended up not charging me - wish I had gone back there instead!

I know this review is long, but please read it. It'll save you a lot of trouble.

It is places like this, that charge such an outstanding bill for everything, that leave people like me unable to provide the proper care to unsure my baby’s health and safety. It does not cost $520 to provide the proper care for my dog; however that is a minimum price I was given by this vet clinic to patch up my six year old dog’s cut and send her home with three different medications that were not completely necessary. I took my dog to this emergency clinic last night due to another dog biting her on her arm, leaving a pretty nasty cut. The exam alone was $75, and they told me everything that I already knew just by looking at the wound myself. They told me that they wouldn't know more about it until they sedated her and shaved her wound to get a better look. That alone was going to cost about $300. They charge a fee for EVERYTHING. There was a $12 fee just for disposal PER ITEM disposed of. I was being shown this fee for four different things (this did not include any post care). What that meant was I paid for the actual drug being administered to her, the labor of them administering the drug, and the disposal of any supply used to give that drug. That is PER drug administered. They told me of all kinds of blood tests and cell count tests they wanted to do, that, after talking to another vet, told me were not necessary. All in all, the lowest price they were able to give me was $520. They tried to tell me that this was a great deal because they are planning on marking up all medication costs in the next several months by 125%.I recommend thinking wisely before you take your precious baby to this vet. I feel horrible because the care I so badly want to provide for my Molly cannot be given to her because I cannot afford it. Take your dogs to Animal Humane Society. They cost a huge fraction of the price and they will tell you exactly what needs to be done to ensure your pets health and safety and they will not try to steal all our money in the process. The way I see it, it doesn't cost $520 for them to care for my dog, they just want hundreds of dollars in profit. That is not care; that is greed.
