I didn't actually get tattooed...

I didn't actually get tattooed here. I came in with an idea and it was simple Celtic stuff that I wanted. I didn't get greeted, the guy I spoke with (I honestly don't remember his name) was quite hostile. I mean, frak...it was going to be my first tattoo. So of course I had grandeur ideas and had questions. Well...the guy seemed like he either didn't want to answer them or didn't have the time. (Even though there was almost no one inside and he was just standing at the counter). Needless to say, I did not get ink done here. I went elsewhere.

If you're going to run a tattoo place, you have to at least try to make clientele. People are going to have questions and ideas that are impossible. It's your job as a tattoo artist to put those ideas to rest if they're impossible. But at least do it in a way that doesn't make someone feel like an idiot. Being comfortable for something like a first tattoo is pretty damned important.

May 7, 2012 - I went to the Ta...

May 7, 2012 - I went to the Tattoo Machine off of a recommendation from a friend. The shop suggested Brian as the artist (and owner) for my particular tattoo, Celtic Knot work armband around my left arm w/a design (badge) of my son s initials on the outside facing part of my arm. I met with Brian and gave him the artwork that I already had worked up with another friend, so I already knew going into this that this is what I wanted. Brian re-drew the artwork and it looked great, just what I had envisioned. What was actually tattooed on my arm was not the same thing.

The tattoo was an armband, and on the outside of my arm and the artwork, there was a design that incorporated my son s initials. So, from the facing design, around the front of my arm, to right under the armpit isgreat. The Celtic knot work is just supposed to be mirrored on the other side of my arm from under the armpit, around the back, and then link right back to the facing design in the front. That s not what happened. The knot work design is about 2 inches thick in the front, and 3 inches in the back. He just kept making it wider and wider as he went around. And the design was not mirrored, and was actually backwards from what went on the front.

I was upset and shot Brian an email one night telling him I was upset and not happy with my new tat. He got right back to me and said he takes this kind of thing very seriously. He asked me to come in so he could take a look, and within a couple days I was back in the shop. He looked at it and agreed that he made a mistake. He said he had a friend that did Laser Removal and said he would pay to have the error part of my tat removed and then he would re-do that area.

Months went by, I reached out again, he said he forgot. He asked me to come in, so I went in for some pics so that he could show his removal person. More time goes by, I reach out again, he says he d been busy but he will make this a priority. there were probably 3-4 times in a 6 month period where I keep trying to reach out to him and I was told he was working on it or something. I then let him be the one to reach out to me next. It has now been 1.5 years since the last time I contacted him, and just tried to reach out to him again this last weekend, and he has not even acknowledged me. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt but now this is flat out lying and he is just avoiding me. It s now been 2 years since my tat was done (incorrectly) and Brian promised to fix this and make it right, but yet I have heard nothing.

I cannot even begin to describe how angry I am at the dishonesty and terrible artwork this shop, specifically Brian, has bestowed upon me. Now I have a half-good/half-bad tattoo that I will have to pay someone else to remove the bad part, and then go to another artist to re-do the artwork. I m almost OK with it as at this point, I m pretty sure that I don t even want Brian to re-do it anyway in case he messes things up again. Beware, Brian may have done some good work in the past, but I guarantee that he can mess up pretty good too. Do you really want to gamble that with something permanent? It s just worse since he promised to fix it and is not

UPDATE 8/15/12: Within a week or so from the original post above, I finally got a hold of Brian. He claimed that it just slipped his mind AGAIN. I gave him one more chance. He claimed that he really does want to make it right. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. After 2-3 more times of me trying to get a hold of him over a month’s time, he failed to make good on this original offer. It’s now been 3 more months, and nothing. I originally was not going to post this since I had gotten a hold of Brian again, but now that he is ignoring his customer again, this review is being posted. I believe I have been incredibly patient, and I can’t stand it anymore, people need to know what they are getting into if they go here. My suggestion, don’t even step in the door.

RED FLAG EXPERIENCE

When I pulled up to the shop, another car was parked next to mine with a number of confederate flag stickers. This made me apprehensive but, I figured maybe the person who owned this car wasn’t in that shop. So I headed in, got a price from the piercer and then went to the bathroom. On my way to the bathroom, I looked over to a tattoo station where a print out of a confederate flag was clipped to their tattoo area and a man was laying there getting it as a tattoo. I guess the world was looking out for me because all I had was a debit card and all they take is cash. So I left to get cash. I knew I didn’t want to financially support a place that would tattoo people with, the confederate flag. As such, I went back in said I wasn’t interested in getting pierced their anymore and left. While leaving, I saw another sticker, on the same car that I had missed. It said, “Uncle Sam Wants You to Speak English.” I guess the drivers intentions were racist.
