I have been taking lesson from Jack for almost 2 years and am very satisfied with the instruction I have received. Jack is incredibly knowledgable about singing and how to allow the voice to become its very best. Jack is a vocal coach, and like every other coach, he tells you what to do. I am very grateful for Jack's instruction because without his guidance I would have no idea how to allow my voice to come out naturally. Learning how to sing correctly does not happen overnight, it is a long process that requires the pupil to pay close attention and be open to correction. Jack is always willing to accommodate students with busy schedules. Because each voice is unique, and exercises or illustrations work differently for each person, Jack tailors each exercise to fit what works best for you, the student. As someone who is intellectual I appreciate how Jack takes the time to explain to me why an exercise works.I am very happy at Garray Studios and feel as though I am always treated well by the instructors.

To have accomplished years and years of research, Jack understands the function of the natural voice. As every individual is unique, so will be the experience of working with Jack. The results are completely dependent on the willingness of the student to let go of control. As designed by God, our bodies know how to sing; however, the intellectual mind interferes and Jack deals with illuminating such interferences that limit the potentials of the voice to express its freedom. The life changing experience I gained from Jack has given me confidence and pleasure in the capability of my voice. Argue not, Jack is always right. Coming down to see Jack for a lesson will grant you the answers of many struggles that are encountered in modern day singers. Jack has a burning passion for extraordinary results from his students. It is just sad when people that don't like hearing the truth resort to trying to discredit someone just to get even. The two reviews below with the low ratings are absolutely FALSE. Jack is and always has been a fantastic coach and mentor. His instruction is done the right way. The way vocal coaching should be instructed. Which in fact is becoming a lost art. But in today's society we are fed this false information about how to sing and produce a quality sound. Why do you think there are so many singers out there in the industry that sound so bad. Jack uses a method of instruction that has been around for centuries and it just works. So let me reassure you that you would be lucky to have Jack as an Instructor. Just remember all things are possible through good teaching and perseverance. Never mistake correction for grumpiness or short temper. it is simply correct teaching.SincerelyAn honest Reviewer

I'm a stubborn woman and will only listen to people who thoroughly and technically explain themselves and their reasoning. I started taking vocal lessons with Jack when I was 10 years old and continued all the way through high school. Although he does practice "tough love" during vocal lessons, he is also able to explain WHY he is asking you to do things a certain way. He pulls out his charts of the throat and the diaphragm and explains how his technique will help your ability to control your voice. The girls below make valid points that everyone learns differently and different techniques work for different people. At the same time, don't come to learn if you already "know" what you're doing. Furthermore, Jack teaches his students classical training at FIRST so that you can learn to control your voice in a way that isn't harmful. ONCE you've mastered that, you can master any genre you want. Go see Jack if you want to train a quality voice. LOVE him!

Working with "resident genius" Jack Gorrecht is a highlight of my week. In teddy bear fashion, Jack told me from my first lesson on that he is always right -- and darn it, he is! His patience is unbelievable, he is passionate about what he does, he is enjoyable company, and is better than a shrink! Jack's a wonderful reader of people and along with learning to sing I have learned a lot about myself in other areas of life. Taking vocal lessons at Garray Studios is like visiting with friends for an hour a week. Do yourself a favor and get in there for your free consultation!

I've learned so much from Jack. I have been at the studio a little over a year. I am being taught on how to become a professional classical singer,and overall how all the skills I have been taught by Jack have improved my singing skills in school choir, for my family, and just for fun. You have to be willing to work hard,pay close attention,and practice,practice,practice. I have grown as a better person and gained more confidence in my singing thank's to Jack. There is also Heather, who is the other wonderful vocal coach there. Also,if your looking for guitar lesson's, piano lesson's, trumpet lesson's, it's all in the same studio. It's not very costly, and it's well worth your money. If your looking for a great coach, Garray's Music Studio is the place to look!

I agree with Everyone esles star student. Jack is NOT fun to work with, and has a horrible temper. You have a good point on taking from many different people too. You WILL get lots of contradicting advice from coach to coach, so you do have to figure out what works best for you (even if Jack rudely insists it's his way or you can leave). I also agree that many of his students have the same type of sound. He wasn't letting me put the feeling into my singing like I wanted, because it wasn't "propper technique". That fact, plus the fact that I felt like I had to walk on eggshells around him was taking the joy out of singing. I've been taking private lessons from my choir director, and I'm getting a lot more useful direction, and I'm actually enjoying myself. And for a MUCH better price! Jack is overpriced. ESPECIALLY for the value or what you get for your money. I can't speak for the other coaches there, they may be great teachers with reasonable prices, but I NOT recommend Jack.

I've taken from coaches before, and since Jack. None of them have ever called me anything along the lines of "unteacheable". In fact, they've all loved my singing. I am a professional singer, who's had a record contract (and several offers), been in several bands, and gets gigs - no thanks to Jack. There's more than one singing technique. After taking from many coaches, I've discovered that much of what one coach tells me will be contradicted by the next! Jack has no patience in listeing to your input on what you've learned in the past, and what's worked best for you. Even if you're not arguing with him. He also has no patience if you're having difficulty. He's very high strung, and has a bad temper. My advice to you, is take from many teachers. Join choir in school, and church. I've taken pieces from here, and there, and figured out what works best for ME. I've even taken a LITTLE from Jack. Beware, all of his students have the same sound: Robotic with little feeling.
