Nikola Lekic, MD, is an Orthopaedic Surgeon and fellowship-trained Hand and Upper Extremity specialist. Dr. Lekic graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed orthopaedic surgery residency at University of Miami. He received additional fellowship training to specialize in adult and pediatric hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX under the guidance of both Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Lekic’s training with Plastic Surgeons provided him the expertise of small incisions, aesthetic wound closures, and understanding and managing complex soft tissue problems. Dr. Lekic treats both adult and pediatric patients, with carefully tailored operative or non-operative treatment options. Dr. Lekic’s practice focuses on patient-centered care and shared decision making. By discussing all of the available treatment options with a thorough evaluation of risks, benefits, and alternatives, he will come to the treatment decision together with the patient. Surgery is not always the best option and many conditions are better treated with conservative measures such as bracing and physical therapy. These choices are to be discussed in a patient, thoughtful, and caring manner. Dr. Lekic is a Board Eligible Orthopaedic Surgeon and Hand & Upper Extremity specialist. He is a candidate member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and American Association for Hand Surgery. He has presented his research at regional and national orthopaedic and plastic surgery meetings and has published book chapters and manuscripts in recent and upcoming orthopaedic literature. Dr. Lekic is the founder of the DC Ortholift Fundraiser for Children with Muscular Dystrophy.
