We used Gray Taxidermy two times now and both times we have been extremely satisfied. We got a Wahoo fish mount and we also had a Red Snapper mounted by them. Now they hang proudly in our home and if we are lucky enough to catch another trophyfish, then we know where to turn. It can be a bit pricey but overall the experience with Gray's has been great.

We went fishing with one of the Charter boats in Fort Lauderdale. We had a blast and were lucky to catch lots of fish. My husband caught a huge dolphin (not a dolphin dolphin like flipper). This one was amazingly green. The name is confusing but its also called a Mahi fish.

The boat captain told us that we can make a trophy of the fish we caught. This way we would have a memory of a life time. The company building the fish replica was Gray Taxidermy and we have never done anything like this before so we were not sure what to expect. However we decided to do it. We contacted Gray Taxidermy and the sales representative was very helpful telling us about process. I always though that you stuff your actual fish. But, no... instead they use a photograph of your fish and build a perfect, i mean perfect replica of your fish. It is made out of fiberglass so it will last forever it seems.

I have not received our mahi yet but from what I've seen from the website I am very excited. It was not cheap but for us well worth it.

Now we have proof and can really brag about our fishing adventure. THANK YOU GRAY!! Can't wait to get our trophy!!!

After a wonderful morning of fishing in Panama City Beach, I decided to mount the fish that my young daughter caught. The guide recommended Gray Taxidermy. They have an office right by the docks where the charters leave. I talked to their representative and gave them my fish with what I thought was an understanding of the fees. It turns out that they don't disclose the fees on their contract, but in the fie print, it mentions additional charges. I actually asked about that and the representative said that it was mostly just shipping based on the weight. Since it was a relatively small fish, I signed the contract and left a deposit. To my surprise, it actually ended up being about 150% !!!!!!!!!! of what I agreed to pay before finally getting my fish (a month after it was promised). Florida is full of taxidermists. Save your time and money and use one that can be trusted.

After they take your deposit money they give you bogus updates and progress bills. Over a period of several months and several progress payments we paid for our mount in full including crating. I am now being asked to pay for shipping. I asked if the mount would ship after I pay for shipping, they respond "it will take 4 - 6 weeks to finish the mount." Unbelievable. They have received full payment from me and have not even started working on my project! Very deceitful! Horrible company. They are a bunch of double talking liars.

Read other reviews from other sites you will see this story over and over again. Sometimes Gray Taxidermy responds with some lame excuse. Please notice they never take responsibility for the overwhelming negative complaints.

Buyer beware.

I have been reading some of the reviews here, and I would like to add my experience. I too was out on a boat and had caught two amazing fish. I wanted them mounted, but I get sea sick so I can not read anything while moving. I asked the deckhand for all the info, and he must not know everything cause what he told me was wrong. I signed up to get both fish mounted, but didn't look at my receipts until I got back to the states. IN BIG BOLD Letters it tells you deposit is non refundable and it tells you there will be a crating and shipping fee, and approximately what that fee will be. NO ONE's Fault but my own that I didn't see that. Although they don't refund your money, this company did work with me, and I am so happy I went ahead and mounted both fish. They did an awesome job. The fish look like they could just swim away. Read your receipts people, and you will see that all was told to you up front. They tell you it will be a replica. They tell you deposit is non refundable, and they tell you there will be added fees for crating, shipping and insurance. I highly recommend them for all my mounting needs. Debbie Fougerat

I agree with the person who talked about this being a rip off. They will try to state that the customer is aware of the prices, but that is not true. My husband was shown a single sheet in Mexico that listed the amount to mount the fish according to the length. No where on the sheet was there anything about the $800 for shipping and crating. I find it an insult that the company wants to say that the account of dwn1968 is not factual. It absolutely is! This company wants to believe that they know exactly what goes on in every boat that they are contracted with but they do not. In our situation, my husband was never shown anything about the extra costs until after he was back at the dock and then was told he had already agreed to the mounting so he had no option. How insulting for this company to say that if anyone has a bad experience with them they are not being factual. Really, why don't they just call everyone who has a bad experience with them liars.

Top notch business... Gray Taxidermy treated me like a VIP when getting my fish replica. Of course this should be the case anytime a company is selling you something but we all know its far from the truth. The girls in customer service and shipping really made my experience a great one. There where some initial issues with my shipping address but it all worked out great. The fishmount itself looks incredible too. Highly recommend this company. Just make sure you ask the questions upfront. Its easier to sort out any issues before the fish is shipped.

Gray Taxidermy is the undisputed king of building realistic looking fishmounts.

My Goliath grouper and dolphin I got from Grey's are both centerpiece of my house. Everyone who sees them are wowed! Took a tour of their place too and its amazing to see the work that goes into these "fish" Highly recommend if you have the money to spend. Not cheap but well worth it.

I recommend gray taxidermy to anyone who is looking for a fish replica that will look 100% real. Their paint artists really know what they are doing. The girls in the customer service department were also great. A few years ago I hired Kingsailfishmounts, and will never use them again. The paint job and detail was awful compared to gray's.

My Red Snapper from Graytaxidermy looks incredible. It is the first one I catch and mount. After seeing the quality of the actual replica I am a total fan! I have decided to turn my room and maybe even my waiting room at my practice to a trophy display room.

Thank You Gray for exceeding my expectations. The shipping cost would be the only concern if I ever catch a huge one! Maybe I bring my trailer down to pick it up.

Thats a problem I look forward too. Maybe a Marlin!!

The fish looks awesome! I have...

The fish from Gray Taxidermy looks awesome! I have dealt with Gray's several times and everytime I receive a product that is not only flawless but the customer service is great as well.

If you are fishing on a charter boat and the crew tells you that you need to harvest the fish in order to have a mount made, just tell them that you know that this is no longer necessary. MAny times the crew may want you to keep the fish but just disregard. Ask them to get the measurements and thats it. Now you can just have them send gray taxidermy the info and they will start building the fish mount immediately. Depending on where you live the shipping cost may be expensive. But if you have the possibility you can actually go down to Gray's yourself to pick it up. Make sure you get a tour of their shop as well. It is quite an experience to see the work up close.

I will recommend Gray Taxidermy over any other company. Just know it will take almost two months to get your mount. But its well worth the wait,

They are a total ripoff. They get you to agree to one amount and then when the statements start rolling in it ends up costing you double of the price you agreed to. They will not even discuss refunding your money. What happens if you don't like their work. I guess you are just going to take the hit then also. Don't do business with these people! The deck hand has me sign all the paperwork in the cabin of the boat where I couldn't even read everything. Buyer beware!!!!!

In response to this review we like to first say that we are sorry that it sees our business in this way and that his/her experience was so negative. Even if anyone is entitled to their own opinion we do need to point out that what is being described is not factual. Gray Taxidermy takes pride in providing a top quality product and throughout the entire shopping process we are clear to the customer of what they can expect and what options they have. This include the type of fishmount, the cost associated with the building of the mount itself, shipping and crating cost. In this review it is stated that the cost ended up being double the mount cost. This could actually be true as the final cost depends on where it is being shipped. Anyone who has purchased a product from us know the work and detail that goes in to each order. Our mounts ship in either a reinforced cardboard box or a hand-built wooden crate (see website for pictures). Some of these boxes and crates very large and naturally there will be a shipping cost associated with this as with any thing that requires shipping. A customer however is welcomed to pick their mount up themselves. Included in the shipping & crating cost is also insurance. Each product leaving our facility is fully insured, so in case of any damage that may have occurred during shipping we will ship it back, repair or replace it with no cost to the customer. Now to specify the materials used to build our fishmounts. They are created by hand out of fiberglass. A very durable material which will ensure that the trophy mount will last for a very long time. To say that we are the best would obviously be a subjective statement. However a customer can rest assured that we take pride in our product and customer service. The fact that most of our customers are repeat customers is proof enough that we are doing a good job. More information can be found on our website graytaxidermy.com. and customers are welcomed to call us for any additional info needed. Thank You, The Gray Taxidermy Team
