mother of triplets needing replacement dishwasher

May 8, 2008 from Phoenix, Arizona:

My friend and neighbor has 18-month old triplets that are very ill. One of the triplets has Downs Syndrome and a congenital heart defect. The babies all just went through the croup, double ear infections, and are now having the 3rd bout of flu since February. Vomit and diarrhea everywhere. Her dishwasher broke in the middle of this horrible wave of sickness. It was a 5-year-old Maytag stainless steel interior bought at this Maytag store. She called the Maytag 800# and talked with a technician. The advice was that it would cost too much to repair the broken pump on a 5-year-old Maytag and that she should get a new one. The Maytag repairman gets no work because of price gouging!!!!!!

So, my friend brings her 4th grade son with her to this Maytag store (where she bought the original dishwasher). Dad is home handling the vomiting and diarrhea from all three triplets. My friend quickly explains to the salesman that she is prepared to buy a dishwasher RIGHT NOW. The salesperson is also talking to another couple and says he'll do both of them at the same time. When the question of reliability came up, the salesman stopped talking to my friend and turned his atttention to the other couple and started ignoring her. The other couple, out of complete compassion, tried to refocus the salesman. The salesman continued to ignore my friend and her son. She turned and walked out with her son. The salesman did not try to get her to come back. She used this experience to explain to her son what poor customer service really was.

My friend then drove 2 miles down the road to Paradise Valley Mall and went to Sears. The salesperson there listened carefully and explained many of the features that she would need/not need. He explained why the 5 year old Maytag broke. Maytag five years ago used poor quality parts. My friend bought a new dishwasher at Sear's at Paradise Valley Mall.

My friend does not have time to write a complaint like this, so I'm going to do it for her. I'm letting our neighbors, school, churches, friends, employers, and businesses in my area know that this Maytag store has no compassion for the customers in their community. Please consider buying your new appliance from a different business that will actually care!
