I love this place! They are always very concerned and helpful. They always make room my dogs even when they don't have it. I've been taking my 14-year-old dog there since she was three months old. So I have 14 years of experiences with her and all of my other dogs going to Society Hill I called around many places for prices and Society Hill was consistently the cheapest for almost everything. When they weren't, the price difference was only five or $10. That is how I started going there. Sometimes their price difference was $100-$150 cheaper than the other vet hospitals. Also, they suggest tests but that does not mean you have to have them. They will discuss it with you and then you decide. They are always honest and let you know if what they suggest can wait or if it's absolutely necessary.When it comes down to the bottom line, you know your pet and what you need to do for them. They never hard sell anything. I have sent many people with their pets and everyone has always been happy with the doctors and the service they received.

Not even a 1! They are a joke of a rip off! I spent between $3,000 to &4,000 on our 18 year old beloved cat who was seriously ill with pancreatitis. She had two bouts, and I did not question the price because I trusted them. Roxie has been well for 1 and half yrs now , and we are grateful. 3 months ago, we adopted a kitten from an alley. We took her in for shots, flea medication and a basic exam- Bill? $ 230! Then they inquired about her spaying which they quoted.me- $720 w/ an overnight stay! Unheard of! A friend told me to call PAWS, they are non- profit and spay and neuter pets from volunteers ( Doctors, etc) including basic, care , shots , etc. cost? $65! I have also vets to The CAT DOCTOR- she recommends PAWS, because she volunteers there! Recently took our kitten in for a viral infection- amazing and incredible care and reasonable price! Society Hill is a joke and I will NEVER cross their threshold again! Shame on them for taking advantage of those of us who adore our pets !

I have taken my cats to SHV for many years. Like most cat owners of healthy indoor cats, I basically took my cats in when they were sick. Two years ago I took my cat in because she was very lethargic. They diagnosed her with renal disease with a prognosis of six months to live. They recommended admission to the hospital and a 5 day course of IV treatment. I followed this treatment, as well as purchased the very expensive prescribed food that I could only get from them. After her treatment we took her home and then took her back a couple of weeks later for a follow up visit to see how she was doing. She was great. They then recommended another set of diagnostic tests to be sure she was ok. After having just spent well over $1,000 and seeing how improved she was, I was reluctant to undergo more treatment and expense. From there on she continued to thrive. Two years later today she is as happy and healthy as ever.



We recently went looking for a dog to adopt to add to our family. When I asked SVH to give a referral, they refused because I did not have the extra testing for my cat two year prior. So I agreed to bring her in for a well visit so they could see how well she was doing. I just left that visit.



The vet checked her out and could see for himself and even stated that she looked great. There were no signs of any unhealthiness other than a little tartar build up on her teeth (totally unrelated to the renal issue). Then they recommended another set of diagnostic tests to be sure she was as healthy as she seemed. This would have been an additional $360 to the $50 cost of the well visit! They wanted to take her and do the tests today. I said I was not prepared to do that today. When I asked again about the referral, they refused to give the referral unless I did the test. This is outright EXTORTION!!!! I will never go back again.

Love Dr. McCrork(sp?) but cannot stand Drew who answered the phone and was anything but helpful! Had been a patient of Dr. McC's, but have since moved. I was seeking a referral, but Drew was so rude that I will never again contact them. I advise you to do the same!

This place is a RIP OFF. We got a spay voucher from Morris Animal Refuge today for $40, which Society Hill Vet says they honor,so I made an appointment for my cat. I asked if there were charges on top of the $40 we paid for the voucher. The guy at the counter said there's bloodwork and a pre-exam needed, which were included with our voucher. A NORMAL person would take that to mean we wouldn't be paying extra on top of the voucher which covers the spaying. NOPE! We were handed an estimate bill of $300 (subtract the $$ for her shots, we were still being taken by these crooks). PAWS honors the voucher and doesn't charge for the bloodwork or anesthesia, OR pain meds needed after the surgery so we're going there and you should too. To top it off, they had the NERVE to call my phone later and say they wanted $66 for the"office visit" for which they did nothing. I went back down, paid it, went off and got my money's worth venting. AVOID these cooks, go somewhere else

the only reason i gave this place 1 star was they we willing to see me right away.i think the staff is cold and uncaring...i had to put my 16yr old samoyed down, she was so sick and full of tumors, i made the appointment and through my tears the girl kept asking me to repeat myself. when we arrived,my app. was for 9:00am, i sat outside with my pet to say goodbye...when i arrived late i was quicky scolded and askes to "just have a seat"....needless to say i walked out not sure what had just happend and we went to the unniversity of penn. such cold people should not work with animals.

This review is only getting two stars because they were able to fit me in the schedule immediately, however the service was sub par. My cat was having breathing issues so I immediately brought her here. She was very briefly looked at and told all she needed was an antibiotics shot and decongestant pills. It was very expensive, 130$ for maybe a half an hour of service. After realizing the cat still has issues I made several follow up calls only to finally reach the vet days after my third call. I feel she was neglected and not given the proper care she deserved, especially for the money. Apparently some places are still more involved in the business of making money and less with the proper treatment of our beloved pets. I have given it time for her problem to clear up but sadly I have made a major mistake coming here and am baffled how this place can even call themselves a Veterinary hospital.
