Provided by YP.comUPDATE - Days after my Massage Envy massage in August 2009, I was diagnosed with a herniated disc in my lower back which required surgery. The Massage Envy massage therapist performed extremely forceful leg stretches at the end of the massage. I told the massage therapist to "Stop!", but it was too late. After spinal injections provided little relief, back surgery (microdiscectomy) was performed in October 2009. My medical bills were over $34,000.00.
Initially, the owner of Massage Envy was very apologetic and offered me a free massage. The owner also agreed to cancel my membership (on the third month of a twelve month membership). If you check social media, you will find out that Massage Envy absolutely refuses to cancel memberships pre-maturely. However, in my case, the owner canceled my membership immediately and without question.
I have never sued anyone before in my entire life, but since I am PERMANENTLY DISABLED, I decided to file suit against Massage Envy in 2011 . (Recently, the Veterans Administration granted me 60% disability based SOLELY on the post-operative notes of the surgeon who performed the microdiscectomy to repair the herniated disc.)
Why am I telling you this SIX YEARS later? Because the lawyers who represent Massage Envy repeatedly delayed resolution of this case. Initially, the case went into default because Massage Envy (corporate) failed to respond to the lawsuit in a timely manner. But the Massage Envy lawyers convinced the judge to re-open the case so Massage Envy could present a defense. Since then, Massage Envy lawyers have continued to delay resolution of this case.
Now, after SIX YEARS, the lawyers for Massage Envy have finally offered to settle this case for $40,000.00 on October 28, 2015. That's barely enough to cover the medical bills and does NOT ADDRESS MY PERMANENT DISABILITY.
So here's a word to the wise: DO NOT ALLOW MASSAGE ENVY THERAPISTS TO PERFORM ANY LEG STRETCHES ON YOU - - YOU MIGHT END UP WITH A HERNIATED DISC, A LONG RECOVERY PERIOD, AND A PERMANENT DISABILITY.
As for me, I will NEVER AGAIN patronize Peachtree City Massage Envy. Also, I will never patronize "The Joint", which is owned by the same folks.

Provided by YP.comMichael Brown performed a massage on me in 2009. Within days, I was diagnosed with a herniated disc in my lower back and had to have surgery. I believe that Michael Brown's massage techniques (forceful leg stretches) caused the herniated disc and resulted in the need for this surgery. The owner of the Peachtree City Massage Envy initially apologized profusely and offered me a free massage. However, I have had to file suit against them. They have refused to take care of the damages I have suffered due to this event. - Colonel (R) Dave Lowry, former Massage Envy customer
