I am a former seasonal employee of L.L.Bean for the 2011/2012 winter season. We were integral in the grand opening of the new store in Yonkers. Initially I and my co-workers were given adequate hours to help stock the store for the opening. We were promised that we would be receiving substantial hours throughout the season. However, soon after the opening, we were told that the store was not meeting it's lofty goal of earning sums that exceed anyone's expectations and that all hours were to be cut. Thereafter, I received no more than 4 or 5 hours a week, sometimes none at all, hardly worth the commute and the parking fees. We all felt we were lied to about our earning potential and were really just used for the laborious act of opening the store and thrown by the wayside right after. This dishonesty and being used for the opening really got under all our skins. Please do not support this company; they pretend they're a green company but the amount of garbage generated by the store is staggering. Also, all they're grossly overpriced clothing is made overseas in poor countries with no labor laws, another company outsourcing it's labor and keeping all the huge profits from selling overpriced crap. We were treated terribly, like we wern't even people who had rights and feelings. Go to a store where the employees aren't lied to, where they aren't treated like dirt, and support a company that isn't deeply corrupt on all managerial levels. Thank you.
