Not worth it

My buddiles horses was beaten by stable hands, the buckets are not cleaned for fresh water and the stalls don't have shavings...owner cutting costs but board went up Horrible place, nasty people, lessons have eight or nine people in them in a small arena, very dangerous, it's not good for people or horses....btw, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Pat Doyle, she is very fake and has no knowledge of horses and/or horse health...seriously??

My horse says "thumbs up!" ...

Granted as a relatively new boarder I was not around for the previous management but so far I have no complaints. Everyone one is friendly and helpful, the facilities are very clean. I've boarded horses in some pretty hairy situations so for the price and the location I think the service is just fine. The buckets do get scrubbed, on Fridays yes? As a horse owner you should be checking your own buckets daily anyway, especially mine who loves to dump hay in the water!

Overall good experience

It's located near a nice path, horses seemed well-trained, and prices weren't too bad. Planning on returning :-)

Bleh.

I've been here for awhile now, and this place used to be waay better. Buckets are never cleaned, stalls are never fully mucked out, and barely any shavings are added. Your not allowed to get your own shavings, so if your horse has barely any shavings (like mine has several times) your SOL. They don't listen to people's complaints, even if it benefits the horses. I haven't taken a lesson in awhile, but from what I can see the program has gone down the drain. I think they need to take a brake from advertising so much and fix the barn up a little bit (NEW ROOF! It would be nice to ride and be with my horse without being dripped on). The cost of board is going up, but I doubt the service will get any better. There are better places to be.

This is for the reviewer on 9/30/2010

Boarders that have been there 15 yrs plus were there way before current management took over. Which they say that Fitzjoy was a much better facility then. For the current boarders, they either don't know any better or that is all they can afford. Food for thought, listen to what current boarders say behind the owner's and your back, it is not what they are saying when they are smiling in your face. Here's a suggestion, send out a satisfaction survey, no names required and see what you get back. You would be surprised. Oh also I am still a current boarder, I know better but can't afford better. Now figure out who I am smart one. Tootles.

Dear disgruntled former boarder,

Upon reading your review (previous to this one on 8-11) I only have one response.. There are SEVERAL boarders who have been keeping their horses at Fitzjoy Farm for over 15 years. Surely such bad service wouldn't inspire such loyalty? Hm, food for thought.

try to find better boarding if you can

I have seen better and cleaner. You would be wise to shop around. For the amount of board fee this place should be cleaner; the owner should be more responsive to your complaints and not dismissive; the rules should be enforced equally for all boarders; the turnouts need to be picked out daily because of flies & the horses being turned out standing most of the time on days worth of manure from other horses; stall cleaning is at a minimal - they out pick out the manure & urine spots & add minimal shavings; the stall bedding is never taken down to the bottom and cleaned throughly - better stables do this at least once a month and some once a week - this cuts down on thrush in the hooves especially for the horses that are not on turnout. The owner is more interested in collecting the monthly board than improving on the property. There is also no fire protection such as sprinkler systems and not enough fans for ventilation and humid weather. there is no security. They do have good trails.

I love this place!

I have ridden here for about 1 year now and i absolutly love it. The people there know who you are. I was suprised the second time i came, they knew my name. i love all the instructors so much. they really help me grow in my riding skills. i am already in the advansed riding class. the price is extremly resonable. One lesson is $37. There are packages that get cheap per class the more classes in a package. The other people that ride there are really nice to. they all feel like family.
