I took my truck (a 1998 F-150) to the service department, for a remanufactured motor, four shocks, a heatercore, and an alignment. I get the truck back almost a month later (three and a half weeks later to be exact) and it cost just shy of $7,000. Now I generally have a pretty low expectations when it comes to dealer service departments but this was far beyond what I expected. Before I made it out of the parking lot I noticed no alignment had been done (I wasn't charged for it either just didn't like the fact they didn't tell me it wasn't done) and the dash board was still loose from when the heater core was replaced (this didn't concern me to much because I had planned on removing it anyway, so I let it be.)

After leaving the dealership, I went to another mechanic I actually trust to do an alignment. While the truck was raised the first thing I noticed was a large bundle of wires which had been pulled from their plastic tubing, dangling under the cab near the driver door. This, and the nice little shaking I was getting from the passenger side tire made me decide to climb under the truck myself and check. So far in the first hour I now find myself with some currently unknown problem with the roter on the driver side and the bolts falling out of the caliper on the passenger side.

Needless to say, I won't be driving this truck until I've checked everything they touched and I definatly will not be going back for any reason.

Last but not least, $7,000 job and they couldn't even take the time to wipe the finger prints off the dash board.... shameful.
