This rating is for the August ...

This rating is for the August Tent Sale. The store itself should probably get a 0 star rating complete waste of our time very unprofessional atmosphere for what’s considered a high end cutlery store. Chefs didn’t stock basics like cups and plates, forks and knives! NO china, glasses, crystal, or even flatware in a kitchen store. It’s your typical high-end store falsely advertising tent sales, and discounts. This place is NO Williams-Sonoma, La Sur Table or even Macy’s. Terrible Section and Prices are Insane!

Back to the sale! We took the time to go and check it out and anticipated the same pottery and glassware you would think to find in a kitchen store how could you call yourself the best and not even have dishes, cups and spoons? Am I missing something? Chefs is promoting a tent sale “there was no sale! We saw many items marked up and falsely being advertised on sale. Thankfully there are apps today that can call these shady business practices out. There was absolutely no indication that anything was truly marked down as one would expect to see at a tent sale... We were so disappointed. Complete waste of time and a waste of a beautiful summer morning that we will never get back. Walked out empty handed frustrated and disgusted. Staff is a bunch of young high school kids knew much about nothing. They were talking loud, rude and one was stuffing his face at the counter one big party very unprofessional. It was unlike any other shopping experience we have ever encountered in a high-end store. The selection is terrible. So called BEST Kitchen store... NO WAY! Far from the best not evn good! They don't offer glass stemware, silverware, the basics!! I'd give zero stars if it was an option!

My husband purchased a toaster on 12/22 for me for Christmas. It was much larger than I wanted so I returned it on 1/5. I could only get a store credit because it was outside their ridiculously short return window of 7 days. I'm all about shopping local and helping out the small businesses but not when the business cannot compete with larger retailers with their customer service. Most stores have at least a 30 day return window and even extend the return terms during the holidays,

The cashier kept calling me honey and love which irritated me more than forcing me to take a store credit. 95% of what they sell in that store can be purchased at bed bath and beyond or on amazon which have much better return terms.

I put a similar review on their Facebook page and they took it down and I received a warning from Facebook. So there are bunch of 1 star reviews on FB without commentary as I suspect everyone else also received a warning from FB. They only reviews that have any commentary on FB are the 3 star reviews and above. After I use the store credit I will never buy anything else from that store!

I called to ask about lids for plastic storage cups bought there (regularly) some time ago. An older man answered the phone this morning and I stated my need: Lids for 5.5 oz plastic cups.
He quickly said he didn't have any.
I thought he misunderstood because there was an entire section of them at last visit. I said (kindly!), "You don't have plastic cups/lids at all? The ones in the section (far right) coming in?".

He spoke impatiently and curtly, "M'am, I know what we sell here. We don't have any."
He could have explained KINDLY that they used to carry plastic ware. And he was sorry he couldn't be of more help. This man showed absolutely NO interest in even wanting to help me. Was going regularly but never returning. Customers unappreciated.

I need to post about what I had seen and heard today in the store. I was shopping the store for the first time in Orange since returning to Connecticut from North Carolina. I was a former shopper of the Wallingford Chefs and I was very upset to see that they had closed. I was told they opened a store in Orange so my wife and I made the trip to see what they had and hoped to buy some knives, pans and a few new electrics. As soon as I walked in the door I was welcomed. The store was so hot it was very hard to breath It was like dead air. I have to say it was cooler outside. We looked over the pans but the prices were high and I found the same set on Macy's for cheaper. So we moved on to he electrics and there was nothing to pick from; it was just rows and rows of the same stuff. I was about to find some help when we heard yelling. I over heard a women with long dark hair , a black top and cargo pants yelling at a young guy and woman about how they should know better, retail is all about lighting, and she shouldn't have to watch them after this long. I should have said something then, but I didn't want to make them feel embarrassed. We ended up just checking out because we were so hot and aggravated at the way the employees are being yelled at on the floor. Never in my 68 years on this earth have I heard people being talked to like misbehaving kids. The woman that was being yelled at was in tears at the register when we left. It's not right. We will not shop there again and I will find out who that woman was yelling and speak to her boss. That is not how you treat people.

I went there Friday and again on Monday for their big memorial day "sidewalk sale". There was no sale!! I was furious. False advertising at its finest. An employee told me that All Clad was 45% off. Little did they know that I own All Clad and I knew that those were the original prices! Not on sale at all! What do they think, their customers are stupid? It was also so hot and muggy in there. The employees were sweating and other customers were complaining. Oh, and to top it off, the kitchen smelled like sewage and there were flies everywhere!! Disgusting. I will never go back. I don't know how they are still open. I would rather make the trip to William and Sonoma because they care about their customers and don't run fake sales!!

Not worth the time it takes to get to the store. Small selection at very high prices. You are better off shopping at Macy's, Williams Sonoma, or Kitchen Collection. Also, they won't accept a credit card without I.D. (must be a bad area).
