We were originally quoted that it would take 4-5 weeks to put in fence posts and 10-15 days after that to finish the fence. On September 9th 2014, our 60% down payment (via check, as they charge more for credit card payments) was received.



They had to mark the yard twice before they could put posts in, as so much time had elapsed since the first time they were marked that the utility companies required a re-mark. There was no communication to why it was delayed other that "weather." I was told in no uncertain terms specific dates my fence would be completed "weather permitting." There was no rain, snow, or any other weather condition that might have interfered in the 3 days between the day I was quoted and the date of the email, but what was their excuse? Weather. Weather is their cop-out for all manner of delays or problems. Being a fence company, you would assume they know that weather delays do happen and factor this into their estimated quotes, but this does not appear to be the case. We were delayed days at a time for an array of issues. For example, because they had the wrong hinges at the site for our gates. Could they go back and get a different part so they could finish on the day I was promised? Of course not. And these three-days-here, three-days-there might not seem like a lot, but it added up to a month delay on the fence. They were unwilling to give us a discount on the fence (the product we were sold, a fence in 7 weeks, was not delivered), nor were they proactive in giving me scheduling updates. Instead I had to hound them for why my fence still wasn't up. Even my new neighbors I barely knew would comment on how long it was taking to put the fence up.



The final bill came over a month after the fence was completed. It is irksome to have to hold $2294 in a checking account waiting for a bill to show up when this money could be used elsewhere. Don't waste your time and effort on this company and pay the extra $500 to have it done on time by someone else.



I had the sprinkler lines flushed and the water turned off because it froze before the posts could be placed, so we'll see in the spring if any of my lines were nicked and if that $150 sprinkler insurance was worth it.

Save your time and money and go with a different fence company. This company terribly scratched our fence and it was impossible to get them to compensate us. The branch manager admitted to using our fence as a 'what not to do' in a training exercise. They spray painted the scratched pieces (on a windy day) and proceeded to get spray paint on our house. They apologized for this and called it good. They are fine with providing low quality work. Their customer service is horrendous. The superintendent Mike McKinney is rude at best. They all complain about how much work they have to do and how 'over extended' they are but it's still the customer who has to pay. I don't see how they sleep at night.

Where to begin? I hired these guys thinking they were a big company that knew what they were doing. They overpromise and underdeliver. My project is going on 2 months behind schedule. They installed the fence and the gates are crooked. The pickets are split and breaking and should have been in the discard pile. The foreman no called no showed on me. Several no call no shows for subcontractors. I can't say enough bad things about this company. I'd stay far away from American Fence. They are a huge company and you mean nothing to them.

Quite possibly the most unprofessional company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Quoted that the fence install would start in 3 weeks, it took 6. Then once they finally started the install, they cut my sprinkler lines, ruined my new sod, set the posts in the wrong place and then rinsed their concrete cart right in the middle of my front yard ruining my grass. After the fence itself went up I've had to fix it 2 or 3 times in just the 2 weeks that it's been up, not to mention having to disconnect it from a neighboring fence that they didn't have permission to hook to. Have left multiple messages with this company to rectify the issues with no resolve, and instead of selling me the proper gate for my fence they installed some "homemade" thing that looks like it was made by a high school kid in shop class.

These guys were the least expensive of four bids. They built us a new vinyl and wood fence. They were on-time, professional, and communicated with us throughout the process. They even helped us move our kennel and play house. These are guys you will trust in your back yard. I can't help but notice that everyone in our neighborhood has "American" signs on their fence.
