Do not subject you family to this "Medical Practice". They refused to treat a 15 month old child due to an outstanding bill that they claim was not paid (the bill was paid). It was a mistake by their billing department. Money is the priority with this place...not the patient! I personally used Patient First in Odenton, MD a couple of times in 2013 after they opened. I didn't think the level of care was fantastic but it wasn't awful. So, I decided to bring my 15 month old son in last night due to the fact that he had a fever off and on over the previous two days and really starting pulling on his ear that evening. I suspected an ear infection and wanted it confirmed and to get a prescription for an antibiotic, so he could start getting it cleared up and he would sleep and be comfortable. I considered waiting until the next day to go to his pediatrician Instead of waiting I decided to be proactive. Thinking this would be a simple checking of his ear and getting a prescription if necessary. During check in I was alerted that I owed an outstanding balance to Patient First, payment was demanded immediately. I didn't remember anything other than a dispute with insurance about the amount that they should cover. I recalled going back and forth with insurance and I paid the balance IN FULL IN 2014. Patient First claimed not to have record of it and refused to treat my 15 month old. I tried to show them confirmation of the payment using my phone but I couldn't go back that far into my checking account to prove payment using my banking app. So, they dismissed me and my 15 month old without seeing us. Do you know how disheartening it is to have a sick child not be seen because of a mistake of Patient First's billing department? I do, now. I went and confirmed through old account statements that this account was paid in full in 2014 as I told them. The good news is that Righttime Medical was in the area and saw my son within 10 minutes, diagnosed the ear infection and gave us the prescription for the antibiotic that I was seeking. My son will be fine due to Rightime, not Patient First. That was my last trip ever to Patient First and I am happy to share this story with anyone that will listen. I guess the Hippocratic Oath wasn't taken by the staff at Patient First...just the Oath of Greed and Money.
