Where do I begin? I'm a plus sized bride and was stressed about the whole wedding dress process.  After ordering my wedding dress online not many seamstresses even wanted to deal with me. With only a few weeks before my wedding I contacted Sofia. She responded to my email right away and I was able to set up an appointment as soon as my schedule allowed. I didn't really know what needed to be done with my dress but I knew it needed help. Thankfully Sofia has a sharp eye for detail and flattering my figure. She suggested we take it in in the sides and shorten it. The bottom of my dress is very full and that is my favorite part so I was worried about losing some of the drama of it. Instead of removing length, she instead brought it up at the seam which somehow managed to make me look taller, and my tummy smaller!!! She was also able to put boning into the sides to help support the girls and avoid back fat. I am so so pleased with her work. She is a true professional, very kind, accommodating, and never once made me stress. I plan on recommending her to everyone I know!

I came to her about a month before my wedding with a not so perfect dress. I explained to her my vision of what I wanted and she got it instantly! And she made it happen better than I even imagined. She's amazing and so kind. I highly recommend her!

A couple of weeks before My wedding I went to Sofia after my awful experience at prevue bridal. Sofia was great, she took time to really look at what needed to be to the dress and offered suggestions on what could look better on certain parts of the dress. Sofia made me feel comfortable and at ease with my wedding not far away. I highly recommend going to Sofia for any alteration needs, she truly is great!

A month before my wedding I didn't have a dress and was worried I wouldn't have one in time. She helped me find the perfect type of dress, and altered it to fit me perfectly. She was so honest and professional with me. She made this experience so much better for a worried bride. She even added bead work off of an old dress I had passed down to me on to the new dress I got. It looks amazing and I am so please with her work. I highly recommend her work for any occasion. She is so sweet and has the best prices. She saved my wedding day.

My wedding dress was superb!! Sofia made my mother's 1969 wedding dress into my own dream. From waistline to hem, everything was perfect! She even made my veil out of my mother's old material. Sofia was always willing and able to fix any flaw with my wedding dress. She was available to work around my schedule. I was worried to go to a bridal store because they are so impersonal and you are just money coming into their business, but Sophia was amazing! She spent hours with me making sure all the details of the dress were perfect. She have me a quote at the very beginning and stuck to it, no fluctuation because of time or products that she used. I came to Sofia after running a local search for alterations. I prefer to do business through word of mouth referrals and/or local businesses. Well, Sophia answered my call, scheduled me in the next day, and got the ball rolling immediately. She greeted me with a beautiful down to earthness that gave me an immediate feeling of comfort. She listened and talked to me about options. She knew what needed to be done. She told me, "It's ok, I will fix it" and she did! She added cups and a halter strap, took in the sides and waist and promised it will be beautiful. When I purchased the dress online it was not everything I had hoped for and more. It was good and Sofia made it great. She is professional, highly experienced, and affordable. I walked away feeling good about the experience, very happy with my beautifully altered gown, and that it was money well spent. I would refer her to anyone and already have!

Sofia is an amazing seamstress. She did all the alterations for my wedding dress in November 2013 and it's taken me awhile, but I HAD to write her a review because she was just that great. Not only was she very pleasant and professional, her work was impeccable. My dress was very lacey and light and barely had any structure to it at all. It was basically a slip with a lace overlay. Sofia made it fit me like a glove!!! Plus she added a bustle, cups, hemmed it and basically made it look and fit perfectly and exactly how I wanted it to . The other part that I loved about working with Sofia was that her prices were so reasonable and she went out of her way to accommodate my schedule. Overall, my experience with Sofia was great from start to finish and I wholeheartedly recommend her and her work.Thank you Sofia!!

When I bought my wedding dress, the top was (from waist up) bigger. I usually have this problem with dresses and it is hard to find a snag fit for the upper body as I have a very petite upper body, from waist to the bust. I had learnt about Sofia thru some of my Carlsbad friends. They knew Sofia from years ago when she had her Alteration business in downtown Carlsbad and spoke highly of her impeccable work. I called her, took my wedding dress to her and in a matter of minutes she had already understood perfectly what the dress needed to be done in order to have a 'perfect fit'. There was no second doubt that she was a professional and no doubt that there were many years of experience behind her. The dress had different layers (French lace) it seemed for my little understanding on alterations that it could be a challenge to alter the top of the dress. Sofia didn't seem to find a challenge in it :) . She was easy going, kind, and most importantly she assure me perfect results which after spending a lot of money in the dress made me leave her place at peace and I was able to relax on the days forward. The results were magnificent. It is with no hesitation that I will recommend Sofia to my future friends and family and Sofia has earned a loyal customer forever. I needed my dress altered for the Marine Corps ball, the dress was way to big on me and i really disnt like it,but it was all i had. Sofia did wonders though adter my dressed was finiahed i fell in love with it. She even added extra to my dress like straps. Her pricing are very affordable and she is a very quick worker. 2 months before my wedding I realised the dress doesn’t fit me well and also from what the lady from David’s bridal said is not fixable. The design on the dress was way too low on the thigh and it as making me look very short. I was broken, and had no idea what I was going to do. I found Sofia’s website by luck and to my surprise she was kind enough to see me the following day. From the first moment I met her I knew she will fix my dress. She knows her job very well and we discussed ways in which she can alter my dress. Sofia is very patient and calmly listened to all my complaints about the dress, she then genuinely said “don’t worry, I will fix it”. I even told her that I always dreamed of a dress with a slit and I could not find one in the store. Sofia told me that after the initial alteration she will try to make a slit. At the second fitting she told me the slit is possible and we discussed different ways of making it. During all the process she always waited for my confirmation and did not make any changes in the dress without me saying i’m OK with it. The dress came out better than expected and it was perfect for my beach wedding. I looked and felt wonderful. She altered my mother’s dress also and I will be her customer for life. PERFECT! Sofia is so professional and inexpensive! I mean it, there are so many alterations people that claim they are cheap but just did not fit my tight budget. Sofia is a top-notch professional that is honest and wants to make everything affordable for you. I just recently got my wedding gown back from her; Not only does it fit PERFECTLY, but she hand-sewn additional beads where she let out the seem. You cannot tell the seem was even let it out!



My wedding gown gave me that annoying armpit fat and overall, was too tight on me. After she let the gown out, she sewed on additional beading, which looks identical to the rest of the beading. Sofia even re-shaped the A-line so it hugs my chest perfectly.



I was so disheartened when I first started searching for a wedding gown alterations lady because everyone was too dang expensive. I am so thankful I found Sofia.



PS - Sofia showed me a picture of a dress she hand-made for her daughter. This dress took her three months to make. Sofia knows her stuff.

Sofia is a amazing seamstress. I bought a gorgeous size xsmall for my daughters sweet 15. It didn't fit her, I took it to Sofia and she took it in and added a strap. The dress fit amazing when she was done with it. I loved what she did with. I highly recommend her. Thanks Sofia!!!!

My wedding gown came in too long, even when i paid extra to get custom length, I was devastated, knowing it was a very special lace, friend of mind recomended her seamstress Sofia, she was able to fix it, she was very careful with the lace of my dress, she had to remove it and replace it to the righ length, it was seamless and perfect, she clearly has a lot of experience and loves a bridal work.

Sofia was absolutely amazing! She altered my wedding dress, taking it in on the bust, sides and waist. The fit was perfect and I felt beautiful. She actually had to take the dress in twice because I had lost weight but she was happy to do it and didn't charge me extra. Her attention to detail and precision is unbeatable. She doesn't settle for a mediocre job, it must be perfect.

When working with Sofia I expressed interest in cutting my dress after the ceremony so that I could really party for the reception. Without even blinking she offered to come to my wedding venue and cut my dress during cocktail hour. I was so grateful and excited that she would do this personal service. We agreed and sure enough on my wedding day she came and cut my dress. It only took her 20-30 minutes and the dress looked amazing afterwards. My guests thought I had changed into a totally different dress. Thank you Sofia for everything, you're truly amazing at what you do!
