Worst ever. We have two older dogs who are facing their last days and would Not allow us to adopt because we did not get,our vaccinations to them in a timely manner. Made us drive 50 munutes to a meet and greet and would Not work with us. So dissappointing. The facility smells horrible and anyone willing to get those dogs out of there would be a blessing. Not friendly at all.

I don't know what the negative reviews are about. I just adopted a dog from Starke County Humane Society and I found the staff to be very helpful in telling me about the dog I adopted. We did a meet and greet with my current male dog to see if they would get along. The staff also allowed me to take the dog into the fenced enclosure to see how she would do off leash. They answered all of my questions and allowed me to adopt and take home the dog that same day. I do not believe the staff was "out to get my money." The adoption fee was very reasonable. I would adopt a dog again from this shelter. They gave me a terrific dog! I am happy with the entire experience.

Worst animal shelter ever all they care about is taking your money. if you have a problem with a animal they blame you or the animals you have. Save you money and go to a place that cares about animals.

Worst shelter I have ever been to. Save your time and money and never go here for any reason. My husband and I adopted a dog a few days ago. He's a little Black and Tan dachshund. Gave him a bath and got over 40 fleas off of him. Their "office cats" also are covered in fleas but they will blame you. His nails were also not trimmed and they were starting to impead his walking. Then he met our cat. He cornered her and attacked her but it was the cats fault for giving a low hiss. When we tried to exchange for another dog they took the dog and said since we didn't get him into the vet within the ridiculous 2 day time limit (which we tried) they said we are out of luck. They refused to give the dog back or our money and accused us of being bad pet owners. They twisted our words and put the whole thing on us and they did nothing wrong. The animals there are not treated well, are covered in fleas, and are chained up on a concrete slab behind the building most of the day. Even when it's cold out! The whole place is nothing but a joke. And you never see any bad reviews on their Facebook page because they just block everyone who has something negative to say.
