compassion??? or lack there of!

i will not return to this clinic, the doctor was very short with me and i felt that she offered unnecessary services to increase my cost.

i want a vet tot listen and understand my problem, i fell like she only addressed it briefly.

I do not offer diagnostics to increase costs. I offer diagnostics to DIAGNOSE and practice a high quality of medicine. Gone are the days of guessing what the problem might be. If pet owners want to cut corners, I will not be your favorite veterinarian.

Everyone was wonderful. They were very aware that our puppy was just rescued and that we weren't really sure of his behavior and since we are new to the area what his specific requirements would be. The doctor was very reassuring and knowledgeable. We haven't had a young dog in a long time. We needed a brush up on our info. The staff was very nice and very helpful. I am very pleased to say that we have found our new vet. We were with our last one in NH for 30 years.

We previously went to the Animal Hospital of North Charleston and had positive support for our cat of 18 years. We then were reassigned with employment and relocated for a time. We are now back and have a new kitten. The care and overall organization and customer service is only better! Having moved a good deal and experienced animal care in other states, their is no comparison to the genuine professionalism and caring at the Animal Hospital of North Charleston. Sincerely appreciate it! J Tassone

My name is Nikki Kaye Hewitt. Me and my mom Cathi have been going to the Animal Hospital NC, for a couple of years. I am always greeted by name and a treat. Every one is always so nice to me and my mom. I have gotten great care when I have been sick. Thank you for taking care of me.

refused help

My daughter and I went in on Sunday with a sick puppy and asked to be seen there was no one in the waiting room. We were told they were booked up and our best bet was to go to the emergency clinic.we went there because it was suppose to be an alternative.after getting to the emergency clinic I called back and asked for the office manager and was told she was not available.I asked for her to call me back but no call.if this is the concern they have for clients and most importantly an animal in need I guess our puppy is lucky not to have been seen.if you don't want patients don't advertise for them.this is really sad.

No Complaints Here..

I first encountered Dr. Cain when she worked at the Emergency Vet Clinic, and was instantly impressed with her knowledge and ability to think outside the box. Since moving to day practice, I have continued taking my pets to her with the confidence that I will be spoken to in a clear, concise manner and that every option will be explored to appropriately diagnose my pets. Dr. Cain always takes the time to answer any questions I have and never rushes the visit. She often calls for follow-ups, which to me shows how much she is personally vested in her clients. I have personally experienced Dr. Cain's dedication as she worked with specialists -after hours, and on days off- to appropriately diagnose and treat my pet; I would not have gotten that kind of personalized attention elsewhere. Furthermore, her staff is amazing- they are all big-hearted with genuine care for the pets they help to treat, and diligently work to see what they can do to make it easier for pets to get in for needed services. For example, they recently ran a special on dentals, which allowed me to provide the level of care I want for my pets- even in these tough economic times! What more can you ask for from a veterinarian? Compassion for the pet, owner, and owners wallet! Bravo, Dr. Cain and Staff!

I couldn't disagree more with the two previous negative reviews reviews about Dr. Cain and her clinic!!! I began taking my dog Zoe to Dr. Roberts when Zoe was only six weeks old. She is now 10yrs old. She is part Sharpei and part Golden Retriever, which has resulted in many health problems due to the blend of those two breeds. Early on Zoe developed severe skin problems and had recurring high fevers which were treated with costly allergy shots and expensive meds but to no effect! I later learned via the internet that she had "sharpei fever", and I introduced Dr. Roberts to this information which helped steer Zoe's treatment in the right direction!

As Zoe began to age she developed symptoms which included problems breathing, excessive thirst and an uncontrollable appetite! She went for several years with the problems being undiagnosed, although many costly test were preformed, and numerous medications were prescribed, there was never an actual diagnosis for these problems.

When Dr. Cain arrived on the scene she reviewed all of Zoe's past bloodwork and her numerous test results with me, and within moments she made a preliminary diagnosis of Cushing's disease....which explained all the symtpoms and problems Zoe had been having for years!!! Her diagnosis was confirmed as soon as the blood work came back! Thank goodness for Dr. Cains keen and thorough analytical skills!!!!!

She not only saved Zoe's life, but quickly got her on the proper treatment, which includes weekly chemotherapy and although she cannot be cured it has given her a much higher quality of life! It has extended her life to give her more time with me! Zoe is doing really well now, and I owe her progress and superb medical treatment to Dr. Cain!!!! Dr. Cain has never been condescending to me in any way. She is very "thorough and to the point" and I appreciate that about her! She is not chatty, but she is friendly and is always personal with both me and Zoe! She is so good about calling me to discuss Zoe's test/blood work results as soon as they come in, which is another thing that demonstrates to me her willingness to go the extra mile!!! I have reffered many of my neighbors and friends to her, and I won't hesitate to recommend her in the future! Thank you Dr. Cain!!!!

The Clinic for Crisis and Compassion

My experience at The Animal Hospital is that it is more than a clinic. I adopted my fluffy black cat from there because they couldn't find a home for her and kept her there until she found mine. When I accidentally gave her the dog's flea medication over July 4th holiday, which could have been lethal to her, Dr Cain and staff made sure I was able to get to an ER clinic immediately, then called the clinic and me personally to ensure the situation kept improving throughout the days/nights as she was nursed back to health.

My very old Golden and I were heading out of town when I realized he had a terrible skin condition that required immediate attention. Basically, I called and dropped into the office so the techs carried him in and checked him thoroughly. The doctor gave him the most thorough exam and asked all the right questions and used the latest technology. I even received a call the next day to ensure he was improving since I was on the road.

I highly recommend this clinic for it's care and compassion to both the animal and the owner.

A vet who cares

I brought my Australian Shepherd to the Animal Hospital on the recommendation of a friend, and have been thoroughly impressed. My experience has been only positive — nothing like what I just read in the prior two reviews. I actually drive an hour from my home for this vet because Dr. Cain has shown such interest in my dog. She's been quick to answer questions on the phone and there is obvious genuine interest for his well-being in the care she provides. If I ever have an emergency, I'm glad to have a vet I trust.

Friendly, helpful, fast, and thorough

Getting appointments at my old vet was always difficult, while The Animal Hospital made a conscious effort to squeeze me and my cat in on a Saturday. I love Dr. Cain's style of practice. She has made my kitty healthy again after two serious issues: hyperthryoidism and bladder stones! She thoroughly diagnoses health problems, not just looking for the most likely problem but uses tests to eliminate other potential reasons for the illness. I also appreciate the educational materials that she provides. While they can be lengthy, they really help me understand the background of my pets' problems, the treatment options, and the follow-up care that is required. I usually forget half the instructions a vet or doctor gives me, and her printed information really helps me. I will continue to drive 45 min for vet visits to get the top-notch care that she can provide!

DO NOT GO HERE

First off I would like to say that this used to be a very nice clinic! I came to this clinic when Dr Robert's owned it about a year or so ago and loved it! She was very knowledgeable and great with my animals. I also came after she sold the practice to Dr Turk and Dr Cain. The first time I came it was Dr Turk, who was very personable and also great with my animals. Not too long ago I came back and saw Dr Cain, very disappointing! She was very cold and obviously not an animal person, which is odd because she's the vet. She barley examined my pet at all and talked down to me the entire visit. I have never been treated like this by a professional and It was very upsetting. I found out that Dr Turk moved away shortly after owning the practice and moved to open another clinic in another state. That tells me that he must have had problems with Dr Cain who owns it now. I will not be returning to this clinic and am happy to inform everyone that Dr Robert's opened another clinic in John's island and that's where I will be taking my animals. To someone who works with animals and cares for them as well! I highly recommend her and advise all people to stay away from the animal hospital or you will be disappointed, as I was!

I apologize if it appeared as though I was speaking down to anyone. It certainly was not my intention. But I am straight-forward and to the point. I do attempt to educate clients about the problems that their pet has. Dr Turk moved away because he married a woman from the Chicago area. Most of my clients and patients think I am great with the animals. I must admit: I understand the dogs and cats better than most people.
