Provided by YP.comHave eaten here about four or five times in total. The menu is mostly American fare and extensive with several pages. The prices are inexpensive to moderate. Most of the food tasted quite good and was served hot. Our favorites were the pina colada, margaritas, crab claws appetizer, Guatemalan salad, filet mignon, and lobster. However, it was not THAT unique and great for what we had to go through to get it. So, we won't be back.
Dress code ranges from ultra casual (sneakers, thong sandals, polo shirts, t-shirts) to people dressed in business suits to people dressed "to the nines" on dates. There were lots of babies and some children, so families appear to be welcome. I think you'd be comfortable and suitable no matter what you were dressed in because I even saw a couple dressed in motorcycle jacket and boots being served at the bar. It was definitely not upscale. In the warmer months, the dining area was kept a bit too cold for comfort from the air conditioning, but some may prefer that.
Ambiance was noisy; the tables were all so close together that one could very easily hear neighboring tables' conversations. The tables were also unusually small; we could barely fit our appetizer and salad plates and two beverage glasses on it without almost knocking something off onto the floor. The women's restroom had no soap (this last visit), so how clean could the staff's hands have been?! The women's restroom also had merely two toilets for a frequently busy 3 level restaurant so there tended to be a line. There is no parking to speak of except a mere handful of pay-by-minute metered parallel parking spaces directly adjacent to the restaurant and some more across the street. All of the metered parking spaces are shared by many different shops and restaurants and can be quite elusive, depending on the season (summer is the worst) and time of day.
Our last visit, the waitress we had would not even serve us; after about 15 minutes, we didn't even get a water or drink order taken. Mind you, it was the daytime on a weekday (in the autumn) and did not appear busy at all (SEVERAL empty tables). We asked the hostess to speak to a manager and were given the runaround. The phone number had no response. The waitress and hostess had a sort of don't- give- a-#@!%* attitude about whether we stayed or left. We opted to leave and would not eat at the Red Parrot again with even a different server and free food! The previous times we'd eaten here the reception and service was much warmer, prompt, and courteous. We don't expect anyone (at the Red Parrot Restaurant or anywhere) to kiss our behinds, but we do except to be treated as humans, and at the very least acknowledged, and served.
