Legend Electric was started in 1967 by Doug Hohl as a Summer income to help pay for his college education. Having grown up in a family business (Holland Electric Inc), he gained most of his basic electrical education. After graduating from college and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked briefly for Reliance Electric and then went to work for Federal Mogul Corp as their plant engineer. He found that sitting at a desk all day was not for him. He then returned to the family business as a journeyman electrician specializing in electrical control systems. During the next 8 years he also taught motor control and Programmable Logic Controllers to the fourth year apprentices in the IBEW Local 1105 apprenticeship program and provided the local plants with a facility for their maintenance people to learn industrial electricity. Also, in the meantime he began working with Kohler Standby Systems for Holland. In 1982 Doug decided to go out on his own because the family business was not interested in continuing on with the motor control and PLC markets Legend Electric Inc was back in business. Doug continued selling Kohler Generator Sets as Legend has installed hundreds of units from twin cylinder 8KW units to 12 cylinder 500KW diesel units. Legend has been a Kohler dealer for over 30 years and for the past two years has been one of the top 5 in sales of residential units in Ohio and Indiana. In 2010 Legend became a General Electric dealer General electric has an impressive management system (Symphony II) that allows us to use smaller units and cycle loads. Legend has factory trained personnel to install and service your standby unit. Legend can handle all aspects of any electrical system weather it is a circuit in your home or 500 KW standby unit.
