Having ridden on the shuttle 4 times, have mixed reviews. Three of four drivers have been pleasant and professional. Usually (3 of 4 again), time to destination (downtown Los Angeles or LAX) has been reasonable.

The exceptions:

One ride from airport to downtown destination was over 1.5 hours. Driver told me that one of the riders had been inappropriately put in his van, causing a detour along congested back roads.

Today, less forgivable, the driver criticized a rider for being late. She wasn't. I was picked up prior to her, and the shuttle was early: awaiting me at 8:00 when my window was 8:05-8:20. She came outside at the next stop at 8:20. The driver was obviously peeved. He repeatedly said he called her phone multiple times; she said she received none and her call history showed no missed calls either. When I chimed in, he also said he'd called me: a call I never received either. She apologized to keep the peace, but he kept talking about it. Then, talking quietly, she mentioned another bad experience with a previous shuttle reservation, and the driver became defensive, wanting to know if all problems were his fault. Seriously? The other rider was visibly upset the rest of the ride. So unnecessary.

Don't count on Super Shuttle

We reserved a trip from UCLA to Long Beach Airport for our daughter online 3 weeks in advance. Pickup time was set up automatically based on her flight schedule. That day, we used their system to check and it showed the van was 2.5 miles away at 5:00. At 5:15 she got a call saying that traffic was heavy (duh! Rush hour in LA) and they had decided not to get her because the other passengers were worried about their flights. She was advised to take a taxi, which they "might" pay for. I called and was told she had cancelled her reservation by phone. Van now showing 4.5 miles away.... Cost of a last-minute taxi in rush hour traffic: roughly $145-$200. Chances of making the flight: 50-50. We paid $120 to rebook her since we didn't want her stuck at the airport all night. My advice: Don't count on Super Shuttle. I will end up paying 4 times the $45 they charged my card for the ride. If you must use them, call and set up a pickup time that takes traffic into account or lie online about your departure time. I was told the computer system gives drivers an hour over the minimum drive time automatically. In LA that may not be enough.
