I called James today to ask what he would charge to do a survey of our property. Our property borders the UDOT 500 west construction project in Provo, and they will be putting a sidewalk in soon. I wanted to know where our property line was at so I would know UDOT is not encroaching on our property. James sent me a county parcel map of our property and told me UDOT had the right to take up to eight feet of our property for the new sidewalk. Fortunately, they are only going to take less than half this. I asked James how much I owed him after his great help. He told me not to worry about it, and there would be no charge. If I ever need his services again, I will be back for more!

James came through on a moment's notice. He was quick and efficient on a residential survey and took the time to make sure we understood his work. I highly recommend James and ALS to anyone needing a survey.

We needed help with a measurement and confirmation of a previous survey. I called several surveyors and they didn't want to come out for such a small job. This guy was willing to come out the same day and answer our questions and actually brought some valuable information to our attention. I heartily recommend them!

I called 3 surveyors. All three said they would get back to me once they did some research about the property. Applied Land Solutions, Inc. was the only one to set an appointment for the next morning.I was in need of a Boundary Survey to establish the property line between my property and one of my neighbours in preparation to put up a fence. Applied Land Solutions, Inc. found the monuments/markers placed by the original surveyor (buried 8 - 12 inches under the sod) and verified their accuracy. A "full" survey was not needed which would have been double the cost.One monument/marker was missing, but was easily placed and verified by both GPS and tape measurement relative to nearby fences (assumed property lines).I mentioned that my neighbour was concerned about her property line on the other side of her house relative to mine. Applied Land Solutions, Inc. went the extra mile and found the monument/marker between my neighbour and her other neighbour at no additional charge.

We needed a survey before undertaking improvements to our property, and got James's name from a family member who was very pleased with his work. We found him to be very pleasant and capable. There has not been another survey done nearby since 1910, and finding reference points was difficult. James went the extra mile to ensure accuracy and precision. We walked around the property and he pointed out the places where fences and other structures were misaligned, and went over the map carefully with me so that I could understand exactly where the boundaries are. He also wrote off some of the time that he spent on our survey in order to stay within the estimate that he had given me earlier. I had a tremendously pleasant and professional experience with James and his company. We needed to install a fence and there was a lack of visible monuments to determine our property line. James was not my first attempt in trying to find a surveyor. I was at the County Recorder's office to pick up a copy of our plat, and I ran into a surveyor there. I gave him our address, and he promised to call back right away with an estimate for a survey. I never heard back from him at all. An individual we are using for a landscape design recommended another surveyor. I called his number and left a message, two and 1/2 weeks later he called back. He sent an estimate by email which I thought was a bit high. I found Applied Land Solutions in Dex, I called James and left a message. He called back in less than two hours. He got our address and I gave him some information on the phone. Within 2 days, he gave me an estimate subject to actually visiting the property sight. The final price from APL was somewhat below the other estimate I had received. However, what was the most important to me was James' promptness, professionalism and his keeping me constantly up to date on what was happening with the survey. I highly recommend Applied Land Solutions. James will do what he says and you will enjoy working with him. His lower fees are just an added benefit.

We needed a survey of our residential property. I searched on DEX and found several companies and began calling. We are planning to install a fence and were unsure of our property lines. The home did not have pins in the sidewalk, nor stakes in the front part of the property, so we didn't know where to install our fence. We didn't need drawings or a record at the county or anything fancy, we just needed to know where the lines were so we could properly install a fence. We called 10 different survey companies in the area and found that ALS had the best price. James didn't try to charge me for things we didn't need, and his bid came in $1000 lower than the highest bid we received (and $200 lower than the average). James was so nice, as well as professional. He came the very next day and even placed pins in the sidewalk for us so we would have a reference point in the future. He was precise, thorough, and did an excellent job. He even had two elderly men (my dad and a neighbor) looking over his shoulder and he handled it with grace. He was courteous, worked quickly, answered all of our questions, and did exactly what we needed him to do. We highly recommend James and ALS if you need survey work done!

Had to do a property line survey for a backyard project and found James and ALS. Service was prompt and he came the next day, but the wind forced a return trip (apparently you can't do this in the wind). He returned and completely the job although it ended up being $140 more than we were quoted due to the return trip and extra effort around the starting location. Would recommend.

My exprerience with James from Applied Land Solutions was 110% Comprehensive, he went way beyond the 'survey work' required. I was in need of a flood elevation survey prior to submitting a LOMA application to FEMA. There were variations in my building structures and I was smack dab in the middle of a 100 year flood plan along the Jordan River.Not only did I recieve an incredibly fair price on the surveys (4 building surveys), he shared tremendous knowledge throughout the process on what the nuances and regulations I'd be dealing with in the FEMA application process. This 'consultative' approach is not something I've ever recieved from an engineer simply performing survey work. He seemed truly care and consider my ultimate goal with FEMA, instead of just offering his fee for service engineering work.I am proud to give James and ALS my highest professional recommendation. When our fence contractor said, "I know it's expensive, but you should probably have a surveyor check this boundary line," my heart sank. I figured we'd lose 2 weeks and the better part of a thousand dollars. Found James of ALS through positive reviews here on Dex, and it's one of the two very best tradesman-hiring experiences I've ever had. He got back to me instantly, scoped the job to get just what I needed, no more, quoted a price and a time that were substantially better than I expected, and delivered days fsater, for noticeably less than the estimate. FANTASTIC.

James was very knowledgeable and motivated to look into my property boundary situation. He came the same day I called, and was very informative. I would definitely call ALS and James again!

Not only would we, but we have already recommended James and Applied Land Solutions to others. He quoted us reasonable rates and he came out the next day. He was very personable, professional and efficient. What we thought was going to be an easy survey to mark our corner lot in preparation for a fence turned out to be much more difficult. James found our subdivision had no markers and he had to locate and use county markers. Imagine our surprise when he told us our lot was 15 feet wider than we thought, and the neighbors behind us had been shorted also. Due to the added difficulty and time involved, and the fact we decided to purchase a copy of our lot drawing, the final cost was greater than we first thought. However, even with the extras it was still several hundred dollars lower than the closest "rough estimate" anyone else quoted.

I called Applied Land Solutions to come out and do some boundary work for some landscaping and fencing that I needed done. They came out the very next day! I was impressed with James on how professional and informative he was on the whole project. I give James and Applied land Solutions an A+ and will call for any future work needed.

I was looking for someone to come and survey and map my property. ALS was amazing! They were very nice, was quick to come out got the job done quickly, and at a better price than other places I called. I would recommend them to anyone who needs any kind of surveying done!
