They quickly diagnosed a burnt out capacitor for their service call fee of $39.95 after coupon. That is where I paid for their expertise and experience. But the bill to replace the capacitor came to $216.83. We paid it because we figured "problem solved." Nope. As he was leaving he said new capacitors burn out condensor fans. It would be about $500.00 to replace that part too. But "I'd recommend you just trash this and get a new A/C unit." They are only $2600. No thanks. He hadn't driven out of sight when the condensor fan burnt out. Too bad they didn't mention that to begin with. So I go online and find out that the capacitor that cost $176.88 can be found on dozens of websites for only $17.99. WOW! A 1000% markup on a part. The condensor fan motor that they basically wanted over $300 more to replace costs about $95 all over the place too. Dave the owner told me that this markup was to pay for their expertise and experience. It feels more like being ripped off.
