Questionable

It didn't take more that 15-20 minutes for the management and owner to take an easy 20 minute/$100 job and turn the transaction south. I came in to have one thing fixed and that turned into 3 simple fixes and two additional purchases. But they obviously didn't want to accommodate the quick business that was nearly completed. Completing the additional work would have consumed too much time. After all, there were four work-orders in queue for customers that weren't even there to pick-up. They (management) decided to interrupt what was turning into a pleasant experience and turn me into a customer that will never step foot in their shop again. If a small business has the audacity to turn away ready, willing to pay (physically present in their store) customers, then they really are in no danger of getting my future business. The two bike techs I dealt with were great though. They found issues I wasn't aware of and did their job upselling me. Keep up the good work guys!

Better than the Big Boxes

I like this place because you can talk directly with the owner; and the staff is knowledgeable. Very competitive pricing, especially for the service and quality lines they carry.

Be careful with their repair service

I needed a repair for broken chain on men's bike so I stopped in for a quote after neighbor recommended their honesty and fair prices. The sales rep offered reasonable price for new chain but quickly suggested I may need a new flywheel on rear wheel also that would also triple costs.. Since he only quoted price for parts, not labor, i wanted full quote.. Sales rep assured me that if I agreed to order bike "Tune UP", for 70 -75 bucks, then all labor for repairs and new parts were covered. Although a "tune up" is quite vague I agreed to offset labor on chain, flywheel or whatever.. After repair tech examined bike a day later, of course he claimed flywheel needed replacement for $40 and also said I needed new brake pads too.. Since I was promised all labor covered for $75 tune up I agreed. Surprise, surprise surprise.. when I arrived to pick up bike I noticed that labor charges were added to each new part.. Sales rep probably noticed problem since he excused himself to talk with co-owner.. Owner came out to present bill and process payment and to defend labor costs of $16. He explained that 50% of labor was deducted and sales rep came out to profusely apologize for confusion or his mistake. Of course, 50 % off labor is nice, if free labor was not promised and then again, I would have never agreed to $75 tune up for nothing.. So I now was charged $75 tune up plus $ 16 labor charges instead of what was promised.. No concession was offered and after I paid $ 168, I called back to inquire where the steel chain around seat was? Of course, they apologized for either losing or tossing my plastic covered steel cable and were forced to offer a replacement which was pretty greasy, filtthy and shorter.. They may be nice guys but I wont' be back again.. Fool me once , shame on you.. fool me twice, shame on me... Demand a written quote before allowing any repairs..

Friendly service and a good family/neighborhood bike shop

The people at the store have always been very helpful in terms of trying to get the parts I need. And their prices are in line with other area bike shops. They're always happy to special order products as well, if they don't have something. That said, it probably won't be your store of choice if you're a serious road cyclist. Their merchandise selection is pretty much limited to the most common things that average families need: mountain bike and cruiser tires, kids' bikes, many mountain bikes, a few less-expensive road bikes, etc.Still, if what you need is a fairly common item, you should give them a call and stop in. Not glitzy, but nice people to do business with. And if you're an average family looking for the things you need for basic recreational cycling, you should definitely give them a try.
