sitting on the spacious front porch and watching Mount Joy "go by" and then going into the comfortable dining room for a glorious breakfast was a great way to start the day. Their slogan is, "Where our guests are like family" and I told Doris this was accurate; she bossed me around just like my wife does when we're home!

The Victorian Rose is a lovely bed and breakfast in Mt. Joy. The innkeeper is an older woman who can serve a good breakfast. The whole house is decorated for Christmas including a tree in the living area.

Our room (the Elizabeth) was very clean and ornately decorated. There was a tree dedicated to the red hat society in it that was very pretty. Our room had a bathroom in it. The other rooms are larger than the Elizabeth but the bathrooms for them are across the hall (they each have a bathroom but you have to go across the hall to get to them.) The owner was very friendly and prepared a bountiful breakfast for us. We had strawberry shortcake, a large plate of cut fruit, delicious french toast with real Vermont maple syrup and crispy bacon. She even offered seconds but we declined. The owner has obviously painstakingly decorated the entire house. If you like victorian, you'll love the victorian rose.

The place is spotlessly clean. Our bathroom was gleaming. Our bedroom was crisp, neat, and totally clean. This is an incredibly important factor in selecting a place. I give top points to this establishment for cleanliness.

for less than $100, you can't go wrong here. The place is clean, centrally located, and if you have a lighthearted sense of fun and quirky humor, you too can find amusement in the ruffled decor and perma-Christmas theme.
