Kurt Weiss Greenhouse is a family owned and operated business that was founded in 1960, but can trace it's roots back over 100 years. With 15 locations, totaling more than 6 million square feet, the firm is one of the United States' largest growing operations. Each of its affiliated companies caters to a particular branch of the nursery industry. The company specializes in quality material tastefully packaged for large volume users. It is not unusual for the company to move more than 1million plants per week at a peak holiday. Fifty percent of its production is in azaleas of both hardy and florist types. However, Kurt Weiss is also the leading producer of bedding plants, caladiums, cyclamen, cinerarias, chrysanthemums, Easter lilies, gardenias, hydrangeas and poinsettias. Presently the organization consists of 15 separate operations, nine on long island, two in Florida, two in South Carolina, one in Connecticut and one in Pennsylvania.
