The Rental Center of Monticello, Inc. In Monticello, NY take no responsibility in their faulty tent rental. I had a special occasion where I rented a tent and other Items from them. The messed up the contract the first time and issued a second contract which was even more messed up then the first. They set a delivery date and delivered three days later instead. They forgot many items for the tent including the main walls and lighting and had to come out a second time. In which they were also notified that their setup was not correct because the legs holding the tent up had several legs not even touching the ground. The day of the event, we recieved a rain shower where the tent began to leak on the food, guest, electrical equipment for the DJ and tent lighting. The Rental Center was immediately contacted and we left a message. The next business day the President Aka The Owner and Operator of the business Jeffry Sternberg called my phone screaming, and cursing. Hes not a nice person.

Terrible experience....

I rented a 12" wood chipper from them. When I got it on site, it wouldn't chip even a small branch. I called and returned it and not only did they charge me $386.10 for the rental but $194.00 to fix the already broken equipment. When I questioned this they basically say your word against ours. Great way to do business. Do yourself a favor and don't get ripped off here.

Oh My GOD !! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!! DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE GO ~ANYWHERE~ ELSE ! I will cut to the chase -- They gave me a bad piece of equipment, I noticed it not running well & mentioned it when I picked it up, but place was closing soon and I had to go. I was right, the equipment was NOT MAINTAINED AT ALL and barely worked. I called first thing next morning and told them and they said they didn't care, they wouldn't even give me a partial credit toward a future rental, nothing - I even showed and proved to them that it wasn't working -- they didn't care -- basically said "go pound salt".

I wish I had followed other peoples reviews. This is a cut throat business, owner has a serious social communication issue. I will never step foot into this place. I am now 2 weeks behind in work and contractors are still waiting on me. If I had time I would pursue litigation and sue in small claims. I have lost much time,money and frustration over this. I even had the machine break down on me..I asked the owner to please send out a mechanic he replied so eloquently " if you have lots of money I'll fix anything" ...for his own machine!! There are many other great rental centers around..I suggest you go elsewhere many others will invest time and care into you to keep you as a customer.

This is the worst experience I've ever had with a business. I was sent a faulty old machine over the weekend, I drove it back to the store and none of the employees were able to fix it. The coming Monday I spoke to the manager and he did a great job accommodating me with a bigger machine with less hassles for the weekend and the reservation was set. On day of delivery, I received a call from the owner stating that he will absolutely not ship me the machine as he will not be making money, and that the manager is on vacation. I was completely awestruck and amazed that I was called on the day of shipment, where I had to travel for 3 hours to get to the job site especially when they had a whole week to inform me that they wanted to cancel a transaction. The owner needs to go to school and learn basic business principles and values in customer retention should be given.

This is the 3rd and last time I will ever, ever go to this dump. The help is rude and painstakingly slow. The equipment is busted old junk that has been stuck back together, barely legal in some cases. Their rates are outrageous for what you get (and for how long) and they have no idea how to keep an appointment. If I could give zero stars that is what they would get, but we'll let them have 1 star because they did have the equipment I needed even if it was a complete POS.



They could do far better to fire the entire staff and start over, bring their rates down by about half, deliver the equipment on time (or even close for that matter) make sure it works, turn on some lights in the store so you're not checking the corners for muggers, and maybe even keep hours convenient for someone other than themselves. That would be a great start.
