Transtar has been operating for more than 100 years and serves its parent company, United States Steel Corporation. The company hauls raw materials, such as iron ore, limestone, coal and coke to sites. Transtar provides in-plant transportation and moves finished products. In addition to handling transportation for United States Steel Corporation, Transtar transports freight for other steel companies and for customers in the coal, chemical, oil refining and forest products industries. Transtar's subsidiaries include four companies based in Alabama, two companies in Pennsylvania and one each in Illinois and Ohio.
