The good thing is they have great hours, after-hours care, and weekend clinics. We went to Valley Oak when we first moved to town 20 years ago, and returned with the "second litter" of kids four years ago because the hours are handy for parents who also work outside the home.

Unfortunately, there's a great deal of disparity in levels of care depending which practioner you get on any given day. We heard a lot of lip service for the goodness of breastfeeding, but a lot of bad advice that could really mess up a breastfeeding relationship for a mom less knowledgable than I. I actually heard one doctor tell me that if I allowed my child to breastfeed almost exclusively and only eat solids "educationally" that I was putting her at risk of kwashiorkor, like the pot-bellied starving children in Ethiopia. This was a healthy, chubby, ahead-of-developmental-schedule baby. I feel bad for less experienced moms dealing with this sort of bad information. Even with my level of expertise, having nursed five children and taught childbirth classes, I doubted myself a while after hearing this terrible advice.

My daughters had been going to Valley Oak for a of couple years. Overall, good service and knowledgable doctors however, you never want to bounce a check with them. Unless you know your bank will cover, only use cash to pay a bill there. They immediately send everything to a lawyers office. So, you have to pay the original amount plus fees plus, if you don't pay the lawyers office within 30 days they slap addtional fees 100 dollars plus (the lawyers office not Valley Oak). So, DONT PAY WITH A CHECK!
