The University of Montana Rural Institute is federally funded organization that works in the areas of disability education, research and related services. It focuses on increasing and supporting the independence, productivity and the inclusion of people with disabilities into the mainstream community. The organization conducts demonstrations and offers information dissemination and technical training and assistance solutions. It advocates and supports participation in community life by rural Americans of all ages. The University of Montana Rural Institute provides supported employment, hearing conservation, rural rehabilitation, and health promotion and maintenance programs. It also conducts independent living, personnel preparation, assistive technology usage and self-employment skills development training.
